Hi everyone - first time poster, so please be gentle..

I’m looking for very experimental & deranged sample libraries.
I just got a GR-1 and I’m raring to go..

Any advice would be amazing.

Thank you..

Are you looking for weird sounds to feed into the GR-1 and make them even weirder?

Modwheel, Wrongtools and Sound Dust are pretty weird samples. Soniccouture have some, too, but considerably more expensive. There's also samples of weird synths doing weird synth stuff, but, well, if you want to do that better just get a West Coast style synth VST like Pendulate or the https://www.giorgiosancristoforo.net/ stuff.

Personally, I'd feed more mundane (ie unprocessed) material into something like that, as 'deranged' would be the expected output... My own preferences are sound effects rather than 'musical' samples, or sometimes the very formulaic stuff sold as sample packs for entry level consumers using the 'construction kit' type music applications.

That said, try Glitchmachines.
An idiot on Set Theory:

Well the question is a little broad, but I was thinking which of my own sample packs I would use with a granular synthesizer like that?

Here are a couple of packs I would look at:

Atmospheric Textures - This is really nice for using in granular to get some experiment atmospheres. https://newloops.com/products/atmospher ... 8710411416

Shimmer Pads - This would be similar but more lush and paddy sounding. https://newloops.com/products/shimmer-p ... 2112651416

NOIZE - Finally, this texture noise pack would complement the other 2 with lots of noise textures, from synths, to real live field recordings. https://newloops.com/products/noize

I hope you find these useful. BTW, they all come with free demos to try so you can test some sounds out yourself. Any questions let me know. :)

Thank you so much for getting back.
Yes, I’m looking to use experimental samples and feed them into the GR-1.
I’m trying to stay away from the computer, as I’m sequencing everything on the mpcx.
I’ll definitely be looking into your suggestions, but will likely avoid any vst’s.

Thanks again!

Thanks guys
I’ll definitely be checking these out.

Many thanks.

You might like my Dark Territory sample pack which contains 49 experimental loops made with a Doepfer Dark Energy Mk1 ... it's designed as an Instrument Rack for Live, but all the samples are included as 24 bit Wav files. There's an audio demo on the web page: http://thecontrolcentre.com/

Thank you so much, but I’m really looking for more obscure and ‘out there’ sounds - stuff that will sound very unusual.

I will have a gander though, through your packs.

Thanks again.

Here is an experimental sound pack I created from scratch using only sound synthesis. I comes licensed when purchased:

I’m sure there are some very very good field recording free on the Luftrum website. https://www.luftrum.com/free-field-recordings/
You can make a donation (I think) should you ever want to use them commercially.

And also on the Cycling ‘74 website has some very interesting looking samples that fit the bill but are expensive. I keep checking if they ever go on sale.

Last but by no means least Empty Vessel, banks for TAL sampler but I’m sure you get the actual sample files as well? (Please check)

Thanks for posting - those are really good for atmospheric "enhancements". :tu:
