Some old (like 10 years) Reaktor ensembles.
BFD for drums.
Arturia Vocoder.
Mild bitcrushing on the vocals.
Absynth (so it doesn't die) for bass synth.
If any wants the lyrics, I can post them.
edit: added alternate mix.

I am so sorry to hear about your brother.
Hope is doing better.

Thank you Rene. Unfortunately, my brother isn't going to make it. I was really close to him (we talked everyday), and we both loved music. He was a programmer and developed a few plugins. This is his KVR page: https://www.kvraudio.com/developer/austen. Reading his responses on the discussion page for VOSIM synth reminded how generous he was. It will be difficult to move on without him.Rene Asologuitar wrote: ↑Wed Sep 21, 2022 4:35 am Hi Genetic_Junk,

having to listen to this in extremely cheap headphones but sounds good (as far as I can tell). Song was totally cool. Enjoyed it a lot. Had trouble understanding a lot of the lyrics but that doesn't bother me at all really. I rarely pay attention to the actual vocals, they just seem like another instrument to me really.
Man it has been ages since I even opened Reaktor. I am not sure why. I'll have to get back on that one. It was so fun to explore different people's ensembles and all.

I sort of feel the same way about vocals most of the time. But I find it fun to write lyrics. I've enjoyed using the old ensembles, and the Reaktor Blocks sound great.

Genetic_Junk,
Thank you for the review. Now your song: this song is really bizarre! I have the Arturia Vocoder (part of the Arturia V-Collection 8 that I have): curious how you used it in your song. Did you run your own vocals through it? I like the synths. The melodies grew on me more after the second listen. Audio quality is good. It's certainly not boring! Rather creative.

This is super fun! So weird, it a very good way. I really like the rock opera quality.

Thanks aaron. Yeah it is pretty strange. I ran my own vocals through the Vocoder. In this track I used it as a kind of a bass instrument.aaron aardvark wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 4:27 am Genetic_Junk,

This is a snippet of the vocoder soloed: https://archive.org/download/IA16V/Irra ... ple%20.mp3
This is snippet of the vocals with vocoder: https://archive.org/download/IA16VS/Irr ... xample.mp3
The way to set up the Arturia vocoder: The vocoder VSTi is placed on a track with the vocal melody as MIDI. The recorded vocals are on a second track and routed to the track containing the vocoder VSTi.
Thank you for commenting.
edited to add vocals

Your song gives me a lot of feelings. The intro takes me back to the 90s when I used to pause my snes to listen to the music.
The effects you got going on makes me think of Owlcity - Fireflies which is the only thing else I can relate to as I haven't heard many things similar to this. It feels like it has a lot of personality in it, I like that.

So much fun! Zany even. Great sounds. Your vocal delivery reminds me a bit of the new Panda Bear/Sonic Boom album.
I'll have at least another listen when I'm home from work.
Thanks for sharing!
