Hi guys,

I want to buy the SoundToys 5 Bundle in a deal for 229$ USD do you think worth the money ? or you think the Soundtoys 6 will be arriving soon?

Thanks,
Regards.

There's absolutely no hint of v6. They barely beta test the v5 in VST3 format. They seem to be doing the absolut minimum to keep their plug-ins comptible with nowdays requirements

I like the v5 Bundle (which I bought many years ago) and use parts of it pretty regularly. It's getting pretty old, but I still find it useful, so if it's worth it to you, I certainly won't try to dissuade you from purchasing. But as sircuit says above, it hsn't been meaningfully updated in years, and there is no indication whatsoever that I'm aware of that a v6 is on the horizon, so I personally wouldn't factor that possibility into my calculation.

Are you using the public beta? If yes, are you reporting VST3 issues you're seeing? Not sure what you're complaining about but we're on the third public beta of VST3, so they're clearly rolling out updates to fix issues and testing.

I don't think SoundToys 6 will be arriving any time soon (if I had to guess, I'd say a year or more). They do usually do Black Friday sales, so maybe you'll get a better deal by waiting. But it's hard to know if it's "worth it" without knowing what other plugins you have.

The SoundToys stuff is pretty good all around, but the GUI's look dated, and "pretty good" just isn't anything to get excited about. Echoboy/Echoboy Jr. are long replaced by ValhallaDelay here. Decapitator has lots of competition (yesterday I recommended the Arturia Culture Vulture emulation for something similar). Eventide Anthology/H9 series replaces a few SoundToys plugins.

But if you don't have similar/better plugins, maybe it is worth it for you at that price. But if you're already a bit of a plugin collector, then I'd probably advise you to pass.

If you'd get immediate benefit from it, do it. Not sure you'd see much more of a discount than the current offer. If you have other options in your arsenal already, then waiting is a strategy. It's been a bit since a new release, and SoundToys isn't the shiny new object developer that comes out with new plugins all the time.

It doesn't seem like they are a company that will bother making anything new at this point. I got rid of the bundle at some point. Also if you move up to a higher resolution monitor I don't think they support the high DPI modes so it will either be small GUIs or blurry GUIs. I doubt they would even update anything. I don't remember anything in the bundle being essential and for everything in it there were better alternatives.

Don't wait for v6.

I was not complaining. op asked a question and I mentioned the state of affairs. Again, what they do is the bare minimum, unless they introduce scaling GUIs in the new update, in which case is a little more than the bare minimum :)

Finally, I don't beta test anything, I prefer to use that time to actually make music

Very helpful! Well, at least you don't complain.

Can you make the difference between a complaint and a simple observation of actual facts? Or you just needed to pick on someone today? Or perhaps both? That beta testing must be exhausting

I am in the same boat. I am just getting back into music. I have been waiting for Soundtoys to go on sale forever. But now that it is, I find myself talking myself into getting the bundle instead of just excitedly pulling the trigger, which I'm taking as a sign I don't need them. I think it's because I have already built out my templates at this point and am pretty friggin happy with what I have (OK, ecstatic coming from limited unintuitive convoluted 80s/90s hardware). I wanted Soundtoys as a replacement for Arturia FX3 because it had issues, but turns out the issue was Windows Core Isolation being on and once I turned that off I have no more complaints. Guess I will see if I freak out once the sale ends and determine from that if I need to pick it up come Black Friday.

None of the above?
Soundtoys were amazing compared to the competition at the time. Now they're still good, but so are a LOT of other plugins (arguably there are others that are better - at least to my eyes and ears). I'd just encourage you to shop around... and maybe not buy a bundle vs using your DAW + specific, targeted FX you know you "need". More expensive that way in total, depending on sales, but also you'll end up with a tight toolset you know how to use really well for excellent results.

I don't mean to pick on you personally but I get frustrated at all the negativity here sometimes, especially since SoundToys had been entirely dormant for a while, and in the last few months put out native Apple Silicon builds and now added VST3 support. Those two things probably required resolving a huge amount of tech debt, and was probably a massive effort. I hope once complete, will allow them to focus on things like resizable GUI's and a SoundToys6. The company has been very active in recent months after what felt like a long hiatus. I just think we should be thankful of that and try to be positive that there will be more from SoundToys still to come. I get that you don't think it's enough, but if you're going to complain about it ("bare minimum" - which is actually an opinion not an "actual fact"), then at least admit it's complaining. :hihi:

WAIT!
Because it saves you a lot of money (version 6 will never come).
There are better alternatives, cheaper and frequently updated.
Soundtoys are just age-old toys for nostalgic grumpy old men.
