It doesn't work correctly in Bitwig. The plugin window is huge... far beyond the size of the screen

This was already the case. If you have a license you could download it for review.
v1.5 is simply not released yet so not available to the general public.

I understood you need pro, I have a plus, the minimum that you should pay anyway. I didn’t buy it for the sounds, I gave it for the synth itself…
Seems fine in Bitwig btw…

P.S. the CLAP version does not support expressions. (No pitch bend from my LinnStrument…)
The same with U-he CLAP synths btw… Surge is doing it right…

I pointed this out when the Early Access release came out. Still hasn't been fixed.

I'm guessing it is the Mac version only, and due to bugged HighDPI support. The window is double-sized, so Vital takes up only 1/4 of the window.

Yeah... Mac only. Makes the CLAP version unusable.

Cardinal has this same window size bug.

I verified that this is indeed a HighDPI bug. When I set my display to a non HighDPI resolution, the windows is properly sized in both Vital and Cardinal.

note that this has been fixed already in Cardinal, it is just not part of 22.09 release.
either grab the nightly/action builds, or wait till 22.10
Confirmed working here. The latest artifact also doesn't immediately crash the audio engine in Bitwig anymore.

EDIT: I think the crash has nothing to do with Cardinal. Bitwig 4.2.8 has got something funky going on. The last few times I have added a CLAP plugin, for some reason it rescans all VST3s. Bizarre.

Chris from Airwindows informs me that he plans to release official CLAP builds of Airwindows before 2023.

In the meantime, I was able to build Airwindows from source, using baconpaul's airwin2clap wrapper library. Worked flawlessly. And the nice thing is, it uses CLAP's plugin shell format where you have a single file that contains the entire Airwindows suite.

This is great news! Hopefully the user experience continues to improve. 🙂
C/R, dongles & other intrusive copy protection equals less-control & more-hassle for consumers. Company gone-can’t authorize. Limit to # of auths. Instability-ie PACE. Forced internet auths. THE HONEST ARE HASSLED, NOT THE PIRATES.

As of v1.2 (released today) the Ildaeil meta-plugin can host CLAP plugins.
See https://github.com/DISTRHO/Ildaeil/releases/tag/v1.2 for announcement
As per the screenshot, a non-CLAP supported host (Ardour) is loading the clap-saw-demo via Ildaeil VST3 version.

Same is true for Cardinal (which includes Ildaeil as a module).
As per https://github.com/DISTRHO/Cardinal/releases/tag/22.10 it can host CLAP plugins too, same deal as above.

It is not the best experience now, as one needs to choose the binary file of the plugin.
Auto-scanning of binary plugins is in the plans, for now the auto-scan only works for LV2 and JSFX (they are just text files, so safe and fast to rescan every run)
