Just wondering if anybody has used this sample disc. I'm told that it is quite good, but wanted to know if anyone has used this and what experiences they had with this library.

I'm saving up for it, and at $180 it's quite good especially considering bagpipes and other celtic woodwinds. If it was on special I'd grab it without hesitation. The mp3 demo was wonderful and going by that I think the bagpipes were the best I've ever heard.

If anyone has used it I'd love to hear their feedback.

i'm using this cd regulary.. the irish instruments on it are fab. really come up to scratch.. the way the samples are laid out its very similar to trilogys true stac method of playing .. so it's easy to get used to.

there's always seasonal special offers on at different times at soundsonline.com .. so maybe wait till they have another one and order that way

they usually post over at northersounds.com to let us know when the bargains are to be had

Wizzo has a pretty good bagpipe sample set.

Hi,

I love this disc. I use it alot and use most of it. There are very few "dud pathes" and there are note for note sampling (as much as you can with a non-western scale) and extra ornaments.

Definately a good purchase. Especially if you are nuts about ethnic winds... like I am.

Hope this hekps,

The only problem I can possibly see is that it doesn't come with it's own sample player a la Kompakt. So one needs their own sampler to use it. Not a problem since most samplers will read AKAI CDs.

Going from the MP3 demos the samples seem to be very accurate, and as you say the Irish sounds are very good, I could hear the Uilliean pipes in all their glory, I think they're in the third part of the MP3 demo, right after the other bagpipe sound (can't tell if they are the scottish ones or the praetorus ones).
