So, that means in the next 4 days?

The pieces are falling into place, so it's possible.

This looks like a fantastic update and probably what users of Nexus3 would have liked in Nexus4. Since it is a free update, it's all even-steven now I think. Thanks and much appreciated, reFX team. Looking forward to installing it tonight. I will post any observations and suggestions here later. :tu:

Any Expansions sale planned with formal announcement?

Wow. Yes, this is a whole new ball game, arguably almost a new synth. Arguably... A SYNTH!

Arguably. Can you start with an Init and build a complex patch from scratch? Still not sure, but it's clear you can do vastly more than you ever could, getting right into the basics of the sources.

The response to 4.0 was deservedly negative. Perhaps reFX took it to heart and realised they had to seriously up their game if they were to survive in the modern marketplace. I'm really surprised they took the editing as far as they did, they could have just stuck to making the player side of it much improved. It's still not multi-out AFAIK, so still some steps there. Nevertheless, they decided to do the unthinkable - actually open it up.

That immediately leads on to another big unanswered question - could people make and sell third party libraries? There used to be a strange very small sector here which reFX clamped down upon. I suspect this will continue, which will cause gnashing of teeth. Is there even a mechanism to save banks of user patches and transfer them to other users?

Still, let's welcome this very significant release as a major step in the right direction. Yes it's quite bizarre that the almost useless 4.0 was a paid upgrade while 4.5 is free, but I interpret that as close as we'll ever get to reFX saying the word they never ever use - "sorry".

Can someone confirm if all the new features work with older expansions (that were written for Nexus 2/3)? If you can finally 'edit' presets I'll definitely upgrade from v3.

Figured 4.5 was such a major upgrade I started its own thread - viewtopic.php?t=587361

+1 on this. I am on nexus 3 and thought the 4 upgrade was a bit meh for the price. This 4.5 upgrade is a lot more interesting and if you can edit older packs I would definitely upgrade.

I think it's unlikely but would love to be pleasantly surprised.
