Hi,
looking for something along the lines of vibe-eq,which I love, but without the 'vibe', ie. just a good digital EQ but without visual overlays etc showing the curves.

SlickEQ is ideal for this, and free. Just set the output section “linear” to remove the (very subtle) mojo.
SlickEQ GE and SlickEQ M have collapsible curve views but control is still always by knobs. I also like using the stepped-controls mode. (Can’t remember if that’s the default, there’s a setting.)
For fixed-frequency I also like Luftikus (which is free and again has options for both stepped controls and gain compensation).
If you do want to have q controls as well there is the Audio Thing Blindfold EQ (which also hides the frequency markings!) or the many SSL channel plugins out there. But for broad strokes I prefer the SlickEQ approach.

PSP Audioware's preQursor 2 is a great sounding EQ for broad tonal shaping. It's my go to for that kind of thing. It's not surgical, and there's no curve displayed.

Eloisis AirEQ and turn the curve display off. Great EQ!

This looks good, but perhaps a bit too complicated for what I want (simple broad strokes 1st-pass on individual tracks rather than master). Might take a look if nothing else works. Thanks-standalone wrote: Mon Sep 26, 2022 8:18 am https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/prod ... al_v3.html

Ah yes, the MAAG eq clone. Unfortunately lack of adjustable freq makes this a no-go, but thanks for reminding me of it. MAAG eq was overrated.imrae wrote: Mon Sep 26, 2022 10:20 am For fixed-frequency I also like Luftikus (which is free and again has options for both stepped controls and gain compensation).
Oh, I like this. Lack of HP annoying, but still a great concept - thanksimrae wrote: Mon Sep 26, 2022 10:20 amIf you do want to have q controls as well there is the Audio Thing Blindfold EQ (which also hides the frequency markings!) or the many SSL channel plugins out there. Nice but the low amount of eq band adjustment makes it a no-gobk wrote: Mon Sep 26, 2022 6:36 pm PSP Audioware's preQursor 2 is a great sounding EQ for broad tonal shaping. It's my go to for that kind of thing. It's not surgical, and there's no curve displayed.

Probably my favourite so far - unknown as to how neutral it is though, as it talks about band adjustments affecting each other, but that need not necessarily be adding 'mojo' so to speak.sinkmusic wrote: Mon Sep 26, 2022 6:55 pm This one is interesting too :

Pretty much becomes a better 'Blind EQ' without the curve, as the dials don't show the freq. But most likely much better quality.
Alright, thanks everybody! I think that's enough to get started with!

For broad shaping it’s less restrictive than it looks; because of the heavily overlapping curves you can get various corner frequencies by using neighbouring bands in different ratios. The gain-compensation, missing from the hardware and Maag plugin, makes it much easier to do this without being fooled by overall volume.metamorphosis wrote: Tue Sep 27, 2022 5:05 amAh yes, the MAAG eq clone. +1 for Slick EQ.
I use Slick EQ GE for nearly all my "coloring EQ" duties. (Edit: all colouring can be Disabled)
3 bands + 2 filters + tilt/notch. You can do enough with it without being too complicated
