musicsoftwaredeals wrote: Wed May 18, 2022 1:58 pm Hi thanks for the feedback! These are really great ideas thanks.

1. Yes the "search" box only allows you to search by product name instead of company name so we'll add company name into that so it will show up results for both thanks!
2. The price history button shows up on each "tile" (product image) so you can click that to see the price history for any product. You're definitely right that we need to improve how we show which store is selling the product thanks
3. Also a good point. I think if we allow the search box to be used to search for company name or product name it should resolve this?
4. You can see expired deals if you tick the "Include Expired" box but we're still working on this.

Thanks for the feedback this is really useful thanks!
No worries - I know there must be an awful lot to do. It looks like it will end up being really useful.

Just one thing I think I expressed badly - what I meant by the expired deals bit was that you can't sort results according to what has expired or what is current. So when you do tick that box, it's not easy to see what you've found.
Thanks glad you think its useful.

We've fixed point 1 now so if you search for "Project SAM" in the product search box, it will show up all Project Sam results :)

In terms of the expired deals, I'm not sure I understand still. When you tick that box it will include "expired deals" in the search results and you can then use the filters to sort the listings (price, name etc.). Is there something else you'd like to see there?

Why are Sugar bytes missing?

We haven't scraped any deals for Sugar Bytes (current or expired deals) on the 17 stores that we currently scrape. Therefore they are not listed yet but we will most likely see some deals soon so it will start generating price history for all Sugar Bytes products :)

Added Producerspot.com store now too - so we're now collecting data from 18 stores in total (and over 200 brands)

You should find that there are now 4 Sugar Bytes products listed and more will be added in time :)

Here is the price history for Sugar Bytes Turnado for example:

We've just added Neural DSP now after it being a popular request:

https://musicsoftwaredeals.com/?manufacturer=786

We've also fixed some small bugs like duplicate products being displayed and added logic to our backend to deal with different vendors calling products slightly different names (now they're all merged into one automagically).

Next on the agenda will be a massive redesign to improve the look and layout and make it even easier to browse.

We're currently working on two things right now:

1. Removing duplicates, categorising everything and tagging products with appropriate tags (like upgrades/crossgrades, expansion packs etc.) to make filtering a lot easier soon
2. The new website design which we hope to launch next month all going well.

We now have price data 595 brands and are scraping 24 stores

We've added Universal Audio to the list of stores that we crawl so you can add price alerts for any of the UAD plugins :)

We've updated the website design with a new look and some new features:

1. We've tagged a lot of the products in the database with the correct categories, tags etc. So you'll see many products tagged as effects or instruments, then digging down further into the effects/plugin type (compressor, EQ etc.) or instrument category like Kontakt full, Kontakt Player, plugin and even the instrument type (keys, guitar, bundle etc). This is still ongoing as it takes quite a while to manually tag 16,000 or so products but we're getting there!

2. One of the new sets of tags we've added are educational versions, upgrades/crossgrade versions and expansion packs. We found that these were clogging up the search results so we wanted to give users the option to remove these from the search results. You'll see in the "more options" dropdown menu, you can tick these boxes to show/hide them from the results. We'll also add sample packs and bundles as options here too to make it easier to show/hide these as some people may not be interested in either

Image

3. Quick search options - currently you can see two quick search options - "Under $5" and "Under $10" for deals. We want to expand this section further to make it quick and easy to get what you want to see on a daily basis with the click of a button.

Image

We were thinking of adding the following options here - would love to hear your thoughts:

- Icon for each store so you can click it and it will just show the latest deals from that store immediately
- Latest deals
- Kontakt Player deals
- Synth deals
- Compressor plugin deals
- EQ plugin deals
- Sound design plugin deals

Basically we want to have the most common searches that people want to see the results for in one click. Anything that you'd like to see added here?

4. We've improved the layout on each product tile to show the stores where each deal is happening (previously it was only the store prefix with no logo but now its full store name and logo).

Image

5. We've improved the price history graph and product page layout to make the page a little easier to navigate and make it clearer where to setup a price alert. For example:

https://musicsoftwaredeals.com/price-hi ... JAM-53049/

Image

6. Improved layout of the user price alerts page

7. Added a contact us page

What we want to do next:

1. Option to setup a price alert for an entire company/brand - maybe you want to get notified when any product by a particular company goes on sale? Thoughts?

2. Option to setup a price alert for a product category - maybe you want to get notified when any sound design plugins or compressors go on sale? Thoughts?

3. Potentially create an automated newsletter of sorts which will email you all of the latest deals on a timeline that you choose yourself. So you can select "I want to get notified of all the latest deals 1 time per week" with more options for timelines etc.

4. Figure out how best to integrate coupons - JRR coupons usually work for most of their products so we need to figure out how best to show the coupons for users for each store in a simple way

We also want to finish tagging all of the products so that's completed.

Thoughts? Any feedback or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

I was looking yesterday at how Blackhole prices have changed and MSD was really useful. Things have really come on.

All four of your ideas for next steps sound useful, although perhaps some retailers might object to the coupons idea.

Things I noticed:

- the rectangular icons for the different shops were hard to read when looking at the graph of prices over time. These are the ones you select/deselect to show the different lines. Actually I can see that’s one of the things you’ve changed. Bestservice is still hard to see on the dark background.

- some products still need tidying up eg ProjectSAM’s Lumina is differently named at JRR Shop v Bestservice v Pluginfox

This is super helpful! Thanks for taking the time to build this.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes you're right actually Best Service is a little hard to see on the dark background so we'll update that thanks!

Thanks for the feedback regarding the ProjectSAM products. We're still manually working our way through some of the data and "merging" some products that are the same (some retailers call them different things so we have to merge the names) and tagging them. You should find ProjectSAM is all done now:

Then my follow-up question would be; how are you guys/girls paying for the time and work to maintain this since the service is free to us? Or will there be advertising deals with vendors later down the line?
