Our autumn hit in this year is: "Betty-Jane".

Website: "Betty-Jane" Note: This requires clicking the grey "play"-button.
With Betty-Jane we used almost all the guitars we have (well, quite a lot anyway).
Betty-Jane once went out into the world to change things, realize bold dreams
and maybe make the world a little better . But things turned out differently ...
You can view or download the lyrics to "Betty-Jane" on the website as a PDF.
Enjoy!

Is Betty-Jane related to Caroline? Curious minds need to know

For some reason, when I press the play on the MP3 link it didn't play automatically, I had to open the link to play.
Anyway, the opening verse didn't grip me or make me want to listen further, but the song sprang to life in the chorus and from that point on it turned into a very good song. These days however, people tend to listen to the first 10-20 seconds before deciding to continue listening or switch off. If they'd switched off your song, they would have missed a good song.

This song reminds me a lot of the Kinks. I loved them so much when I was younger. I don't think I heard anything from you all that I didn't love. I'm a fan!

I don't see this as a autumn hit... more like spring hit in 2023
is this some autotune on your voice?
cool you made the picture be yourself

it is better to have a track with some mistakes than a track without any soul

The chorus is one of your best with great use of backing vocals. The guitar solo at 0:58 is terrific. A KVR hit single for sure.
I think a lot of us make choices similar to Betty Jane.
Nice work as usual.

Sure, Betty-Jane is Caroline's sister!
On the subject, that's right: Caroline was an acquaintance I met again after a long time.
On the other hand, I actually followed Betty-Jane's life constantly - always in parallel.
But the result is similar: the childhood dreams and high-flying plans have disappeared.
Thank you, seismic1!

enroe,
Thank you for the reviews! Now your song: there are some very noticeable pitch tweaks on the vocals, but the song wouldn't be quite the same without the vocals because they sound quite good overall and have nice tone and melodies. Instrumentally, everything sounds nice. Audio quality is very good. Nice song and recording!

it should start playing right away.
Interesting that you don't like the verse. You're right: the first few
seconds are usually decisive. We can't get used to it though: We
have the whole song - as a story and a work - in view. And it's
always a struggle to get a song coherent overall.
Thanks for your thoughts on "Betty-Jane", Bansaw!

The first time I listened to this, I liked the second verse more than the first. I think the first verse has a much more "low-key" style and sound. By the time the second verse comes along, we've had the first chorus and solo and energy levels are higher. I think this makes the second verse more "comfortable". After subsequent listens, I'm more in tune with the relaxed vibe of the first verse. Having listened to lots of Prog-Rock in my youth, I'm quite at home listening to songwriting whose features may be a little off the beaten track.
Good work

Yeah, yeah, we love the Kinks too. Thank you for this very flattering comparison, ATS!
