Yeah, their take on UI/UX is novel and takes a bit of getting used to, but the great thing about it is that once you learn how one thing works, you find that everything works that way. I’m usually up and running with Melda’s stuff after watching a couple of tutorial videos. For instance, I bought MSoundFactory during the presale period, to get the deal, and promptly put it aside due to my work load. When I finally cracked it open for a proper session, I was frustrated at first. After watching a run-though and a couple of tutorials, I was good to go, making my own patches from scratch, easy as pie.DrGonzo wrote: Sat Mar 05, 2022 5:15 pmYeah Melda are doing cool stuff. Not a big fan of their UIs though - but they are serviceable and do their job. MXXX always looked so damn daunting though. Like a mountain that just gets larger the closer you get to itzerocrossing wrote: Sat Mar 05, 2022 12:31 am The ultimate is Melda’s MXXX. You can get MXXX Core for free, I believe, which just includes his free effects, but as you buy his effects, they become useable in MXXX, and they’re always on sale. I waited for a Black Friday deal and I think I got the full deal for $350 and it’s amazing. A modular effects powerhouse.![]()
So, if you want super intuitive, but not very powerful, then pass on MXXX. If you’re willing to put in a bit of time and effort, you definitely get rewarded.

if you want a channel strip for mixing i recommend infinistrip or ozone/neutron (more complete package and fairly cheap by now), if you want multi fx for sound design: infiltrator, snap heap, byome or hy-filter.
