Yeah, I grabbed that last night, and will be grabbing each as they come, I have been waiting patiently for a sale like this, although I was thinking all at the same time. But never mind, the end result will be the same.

I’m well aware mate, I’ve worked in music for 25 years, but this is software, very different.

I’ll give the demo a go, cheers!

I demoed Vintage Drive this afternoon and I own Kelvin. First for context, I am not big on using "saturation" which I call "distortion" - I have strong opinions about adding distortion to a signal in anything other than a purely over-driven way as an overt effect. I digress... there was no way for me to compare the subtlities that exist with these kinds of tools. But, generally speaking, Vintage Drive seems to have a particular sound - a harmonic fingerprint that doesn't change much across the range of the other parameters. Kelvin has more range of action across the board and can be more dynamic sounding. But, I think this makes sense given the SSL is modelled against a specific device and Kelvin is more of a distortion toolbox.

One thing I played with was running a reverb (med room) in between two Vintage Drives. The pre Drive didnt have much effect but the post Drive made the reverb blend more naturally with the source. However it was subtle and so I am still assessing its worth to me, specifically.

How does it compare to SSLnative saturator?

Native saturator can do more extreme sounds than vintage drive.
Kelvin is much more versatile and drastic to the signal, but I love the SSL ones too for different purposes.
I think all SSL plugins are great.

Good question. I'm going to demo it this weekend and find out if it's special or not.

I think the Transformer and HF Compressor plugins interest me the most. $35 seems good for each but my local currency against the US dollar is the worst it's been in 10 years, so it's not a no-brainer and it would be wise for me to be choosey and not get pulled into a 5-week deal run - but I'll be honest that's likely what will happen :dog:

But I know one thing and that is I adore the SSL Native Bus Compressor 2.

Can be had for $31.50 from a number of third party resellers. First impressions are pleasing to my ears.

I hadn't seen these plug ins. But $1000 to emulate the hardware seems a pretty steep base.

The sale is better priced but I'm not sure it's hugely compelling as many people will already have saturation, EQ and compression plug ins.

Maybe I just lack experience with this sort of thing or I'm just going deaf, but I honestly cannot hear any effect at all from this plug. Perhaps it's just too subtle for my brutish cave man ears and underdeveloped brain.

Or is this one of those things you only hear once it's applied to multiple tracks?

I can start hearing it when the drive or density knob are at about 2. from 0-2 I only percieve a slight soundstage change. I don't like putting distortion, like this, on my tracks - when all that distoriton is added up on the master, to my ears, it sound bad. So this tool is not for me.

If these were all in one plugin, like the Fusion HW, it would be a much more appealing product. You could still have individual modules like they have now too.

Acustica gave away their Celestial which was their take on the Fusion a while back and was an all in one, it's pretty decent, no idea if you can still get it though
