1) Can Softube Modular control my Eurorack via CV like Reaktor Blocks can?
2) Can you change the sample rate within Softube Modular like you can in Reaktor?
Thanks
1. Probably yes. I have done this with Reaktor in the past, but now I don't have a hardware modular anymore. So I never tested this with Softube Modular. The right way would be to use the Aux outputs with pressed 'Block DC On Aux Out' button. But to be honest, Softube Modular wouldn't be my first choice for creating CV signals.

2. No.

That’s interesting. So are you using Softube primarily in place of your late modular?
Why would it not be your first choice for creating CV signals?

I’ve done this with Reaktor Blocks too and that works like a charm.

And so Softube uses your host sample rate, that’s a bummer. Do you know how much it oversamples e.g. 4x, 8x?

Well, just try it yourself. Reaktor is still my favourite for creating CV signals.

By the way, I made a video a while ago, how to feed Softube Modular with (audio) CV/Gate signals from Reaktor....

Softube Modular - Drone Bass S/H

Hey Modular Heads I need some help.

I'm a big fan of SH101 and think Softube's Model 82 sounds great but I would like to be able to play it polyphonic. Since I have Model 82 and Softube Modular I was thinking about building a polyphonic version (only 2 voices needed) of it in Modular but having some problems making it work. Would someone be able to help me with this? To make a patch and then share it with me would ideal.

So basically I would like standard but 2 voice basic Model 82 made in Modular with single VCF, ADSR and LFO and rest of Model 82 modules. Can that be done?

Post

Seems to me I've come across some polyphonic factory patches from the Modular; it shouldn't be that hard to translate with Model 82 modules.

If you need a true two-voice polyphonic patch, it would make sense to use simply two instances of Model 82. It's not much easier to create in Modular.

Or do you mean a paraphonic/duophonic patch, 2xVCO, 1xVCA, 1xVCF? Then use the Qudraphonic module and set mode to LOWEST.

I was using 2 instances od Model 82 via instrument rack in Ableton and that worked quite ok. But thing is, tweaking single parametar would mean I need to tweak it on both instances at once. I got around that with using macros but it's still a bit tedious and was thinking about doing the simples version of Model 82 that can do chords for example. So 2-3 voices maximum.

Would you mind setting the paraphonic/duophonic patch and sending it, just so I could be sure that I understand what you mean exactly.

EDIT: Ok, I think I made it! Plays chords like I wanted it to do. Any more suggestions how can I expand this patch? I have almost all Modular modules. I'm interested in doing some more atonal stuff with it and would maybe consider changing the midi notes coming in with something more of like cv without proper tuning. (hope you understand, this world is new to me)
I always like the MOD on Model 82 that can do 1/16 random pitch on the VCO.

The only thing is, I think your patch there won't act like a 2 voice polyphonic synth in that the filters won't be per voice there. I think you'll need 2 filter and 2 envelopes, one for each voice. In order to have single knobs, you'll need to use the macros in modular to control them both.

That's not possible in my opinion, if you mean the perfomance controls. You can only map single knobs.... or is there a secret trick to map two knobs?

What definitely works, is to control multiple parameters with a cv source (offset module), or a cv source + vca.

I didn't aim for filter control per voice but more of one unified filter and envelope for both voices since the aim is to just play chords.

Anyone has an idea how to expand more on this patch?

For this question ( 2 voice polyphonic synth + two filters), this makes me think of using the Model 82 VST versions in a Combinator REASON; there, it's more comfortable and less restrictive than with the Softube Modulator.

I like the macro controls from the Ableton racks, I use these also to control Softube Modular. If you use the key zone editor of the racks, you can easily play two instances of Model 82.

Yes, that's how exactly a paraphonic patch looks like.

Ok, take this.... :)

Ah ok good to know. I never actually use the performance controls. I thought they could map to multiple parameters. Sounds like cv does the trick though.

Another easy way for atonal, but also microtonal stuff, is to scale the midi note input with the cv mix module. This one is set to 0.50x, what results in a 24ET scale. For a (more or less) clean tuned root note you have to use the fine tune knob of the oscillator....
