GoldWave has been silently(?) running a funding drive to open-source the web tech version, Infinity

Posting this because I've literally only seen a single Reddit thread about it. I stumbled on this accidentally last night, but can't find any proof that it was ever promoted. It doesn't seem to even be on the site anywhere (it showed up in a Google search for me). I guess it's possible that it hasn't actually started yet?

Anyways, apparently, GoldWave's web tech version, Inifinity, could be open sourced. They seem to be running a funding drive to do that sustainably, with a goal of $2m that would guarantee at least 5 years of development after it was open sourced (rather than just dumping the code and abandoning it, as happens with a lot of software). At the base goal of $2m, the code would be GPL'd, while MIT licensing is a stretch goal.

So far, it seems pretty unsuccessful, but, as was mentioned, I'm struggling to find proof that this was ever promoted or that it's even actually started.

I vaguely remember seeing some promotion of it. I can't say that it interests me. I just want them to add a BPM tool so that I don't have to do math myself. I asked for it back in 2008. I'm finally considering giving up on GoldWave after almost 30 years, especially if they move to being a web app. I wish I knew of a good replacement.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

For what it's worth, as far as I can tell, most people that do move away from it end up replacing it with Audacity or just doing more in Reaper.

They charge people even if they don't reach the goal and the refund policy looks super sketchy.

I remember this being a lesser competitor to Cool Edit. I think going the crowd funded open source route could take attention and resources away from Audacity.
