I have Pro Tools First on my iLok account. I'm not sure if it's still possible to download the software though, or transfer the licence.

ProTools Intro is pretty nice actually. If you can get by on the limitations, you hardly need the paid version at all interestingly. :tu:

I'm not exited enough to install it to find out, but, did they eliminate the "you can only have three active projects" bs limitation of first? I got a copy of first with my guitar processor/interface. It's probably in my avid account, I don't know, I haven't checked it in years.

Doesn't seem to be any such limitation. It's pretty good like I said, if you got your own plugins already, like many of us do, it's likely worth a try. ...If you like ProTools that is. :tu:

If they supported VST I would give it a go, the thought of having to install all my plugins in AAX format keeps me away.

What is the reason to use First instead of Intro? Intro looked pretty good when I briefly played with it, especially the third party plugin support.

Actually, there was no PT Intro when the OP made this thread. :)

indeed. anyone who is still using First would be a bit daft not switching to Intro.

I installed it. It's Pro Tools alright. It's a DAW any budding engineer should have at least a working knowledge of. Interestingly, when I cancelled a new song that was the same name as the other, the program hung with no windows showing. You'd think after three decades that simple stuff like this would be straightened out.

I was a bit surprised to learn about it here. I'm supposed to be in Avid's PR loop.
