When routing the instruments to the fx bus and bus using sends , it's still not available

On the studio one forum a user posted a screenshot where the fx channel is available as input source , so is this a new feature ?

I believe this is new in V6 - time for an upgrade...gentleclockdivider wrote: Mon Oct 17, 2022 1:08 pmOn the studio one forum a user posted a screenshot where the fx channel is available as input source , so is this a new feature?

Exactly and the reason is because you have made the FX1 a regular FX return channel which you can identify with the lack of it´s own send section which I here have marked in orange compared to the regular Bus 1: You can create FX returns directly as Bus channels instead of regular FX channels by holding a modifier when you drop in your case the room reverb onto the send section of the SEM track...gentleclockdivider wrote: Tue Oct 18, 2022 11:21 am I mean the fx bus is not directly available as input source unlike the normal busses are .
I could get around it by sending the fxbus to a bus which then becomes available .

I know that , it's just strange that they don't appear is input source in the arranger .Trancit wrote: Tue Oct 18, 2022 1:34 pmExactly and the reason is because you have made the FX1 a regular FX return channel which you can identify with the lack of it´s own send section which I here have marked in orange compared to the regular Bus 1:gentleclockdivider wrote: Tue Oct 18, 2022 11:21 am I mean the fx bus is not directly available as input source unlike the normal busses are .

Yes , that's exactly what I am talking aboutjamcat wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 2:38 am
Are you talking about routing an FX channel to a track in the arranger to record the FX channel’s output in real-time, like what Gregor is doing with the MASTER bus in this video?
If that’s what you're talking about, you still can’t do it Studio One 5.
I don’t know about Studio One 6.
My solution for this would be to route the FX channel’s destination to a Bus channel, and then select the Bus channel as the audio channel’s input.

Did you try if it works with using Busses as FX returns??gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 1:33 pm ...
the FX buss can not be chosen from the available options .
As you can see from the sceenshot , normal busses appear as a selecttio source .Trancit wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 3:29 pmDid you try if it works with using Busses as FX returns??gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 1:33 pm ...

To my knowledge the system wasn´t changed so far and I can´t tell you what´s the reason for having by default FX channels instead of doing everything with Busses but at least you can decide yourself what you like better by just holding ALT when dropping a plugin onto the sends section of a channel...
OK, now try these extra steps:gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 1:33 pm Steps to follow what I actually mean![]()
-Step 1 , create an instrument track
-step 2-3 , create an fx bus and a normal bus , add an insert effect on both busses .
-step 4 , route the instrument track to both the FX bus and the normal bus
CAUTION , when routing from the dropdown (located above the instrument pan slider ) , only one bus can be selected ,so instead we're going to use send slider (both in post fader mode)from the instrument to route to both the effect and nomal bus , like this .
-step 5 , insert an audio track because we want to record the wet effects signal as auido
-step 6, click on the input dropdown of the audio
Like this ,
the FX buss can not be chosen from the available options .
Laurence, I see that is Studio One 6 in your screenshot. Is this new behaviour to version 6?LawrenceF wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 5:05 pm Two things will prevent it from listing:
1. If the audio track is mono the bus has to be mono, and
2. If the routing would cause a feedback loop, which is not allowed in Studio One.
