Ableton Live vs Bitwig

As we all know, some of the key Bitwig developers used to work and develop for Ableton Live.
Now that Bitwig seems to be well established in DAW market, which one do you prefer?
Are you still sticking to Ableton and why?
Did you made the switch to Bitwig and why?

Seriously? There should be a very good reason for switching a DAW, otherwise you just waste lifetime.

I use Live with various software modular synths (Reaktor, Softube Modular, VCV Rack), so I can do every sound or type of music that comes to my mind. Since years.

If one day Bitwig comes up with a controller like Live has with its Push, then They might get ahead...
In the meantime nothing comes close

currently using Bitwig Studio 4.4 and Ableton Live 11 Lite (used to have Live 11 Standard)

I equally dislike Bitwig for some whatever reason I might have brought up centuries ago and am tired of bringing it up once again

PUSH 2 works fine for me in Bitwig (with MOSS script), obviously not as fully integrated as with Live (WRT instruments pre-mapped and graphics) but still very useful, nevertheless. In fact, the MOSS script makes it do some new stuff that Live doesn't do (but I still MUCH prefer it as a Live controller)
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Bitwig has that. It's called Ableton Push. Works amazingly well and very similar. No waveform display and fancy things like that, but it does the job (Moss script).

I have both. Bitwig beats Ableton in just about every way imaginable. I prefer a couple things about the clip envelopes in Live, and some of the Live devices I like better than built-in Bitwig devices. I actually like Live as a limited alternative to use only Ableton devices to limit myself. The idea going back was that I'd focus more on sample manipulation and some basic devices rather than a billion VSTs. When using plugins though, Bitwig is just light years ahead.

I switched to Bitwig some years back cause I bought a Linnstrument and at that time Live did not support MPE. Otherwise I was satisfied with Live and would have just kept using it.

If I were making a fresh decision today, Live would not be in the running because it only partially supports MPE. Live does not record midi channel data which is essential to make full use of the Linnstrument. Since the Linnstrument is my main controller and I use the MPE capabilities constantly, Live still isn't a suitable DAW option for me.

Meanwhile, Bitwig has continued to extend its MPE capabilities in ways no other DAW has. For MPE, Bitwig is unique so Bitwig it is for me.

It's funny how subjective this stuff is. I was excited when I bought Push but as the months passed, I found I used it less and less. For lots of stuff I find the mouse and screen faster and the Push was in the way.

Push is too big. It takes up way too much prime space. It may make sense if one uses the pads as a primary controller, but it never was for me. I prefer a regular keyboard or the Linnstrument for playing so that is what I want in front of me. Once the Push got pushed to the side, its use dropped off completely and I packed it up and put it in the closet never to be used again.

I really think there should be a tax for these threads. Imagine how rich KVR could be. They wouldn't even have to show ads.

They could even employ loads of influencers which tell people what to prefer.

I can understand that, it's similar for me. The push is cool, but Bitwig on a PC touch screen monitor on a moveable arm is really a nice workflow. So I do most of it that way, also with a linnstrument on the desktop in front of me (And Seaboard under the sit/stand desk). But I kept Push over to the side, mostly for macros and firing clips. It is a bit big though yeah.

For me it's equally about other things like hybrid tracks and bouncing in place, the multi-out chains of a VST device (not needing extra tracks), and the remote control mappings and macros. It's so strange going to live and having to create a single device rack to get macros, whereas they are available right there on every device with bitwig, with device templates and preset templates.
