Is it not kind of unusual for a DAW to have tabs and text set vertically on the side of the screen ? I only know of one other application that adopts that, or rather has the option to enable that, and that's Cinema 4D.

Visually which one of these looks more advanced and innovative, without even comparing their use?

Hmm not the one that looks like a spreadsheet from 1992. If a clip launcher is your only criteria for “advanced” that’s an extremely myopic view of what a DAW is.

Just as an FYI, Ardour still requires that you record clips in the arrange view the copy that to clip view. For now all it does is launch clips.

If you say Ardour is more advanced than S1 because it has a clip launcher you are going to get a certain response back. Mostly because that kind of comment is silly beyond compare.
Ardour is now more advanced and innovative for live performances than Studio One 6?
Details are very important. That's why it was formed as a question not a statement. So that basically makes everything you typed invalid. And I'm not sure why you feel the need to defend other peoples' meaningless opinion in the first place. Some people seem to get triggered over the most silliest reasons.
You seem to be the only one whose triggered here. I was just pointing out that you aren’t adding much to the conversation and you are the one who got all bothered over a sarcastic remark to your, imo, deliberately obtuse “question”.

Just be clear your “question” wasn’t a question it was a statement disguised as one. You weren’t actually looking for an answer and the one you did get triggered you for some reason. So the ? may as well not exist.

Who would of ever guessed that they would have clip launching before them, yikes.
It was a simple question, you filled in the blank. Which none of you clip launching haters have come up with a meaningful reason why it's not. Maybe it should make you think a little deeper about your responses, but it won't.

No one here hates clip launching. It's a useful addition to any DAW.
If you've been paying attention to the thread, you'll know how to spot them.

How about we get back to Ardour?

The upper image - and by a long shot.

(Not meant as a dig at towards Ardour at all - but if you ask... )

Those vertical waveforms remind me of the idea I had when I created my future vision of Propellerheads Reason's GUI. The mixer part I created employed a similar aspect in regard to waveforms. Created back in Feb/March 2015. (Curiously, the main arrangement page - included a clip launcher system)

I filled in the blanks because you then posted 3 other posts in this thread about the clip launcher and which one is more "advanced". It doesn't take a genius to know you have an agenda.

It doesn't matter I'm not a clip launcher "hater". I have owned live since version 7. Have owned Bitwig since version 2.2. I owned and use my Akai Force daily. Clip launchers are nice. No one here so far has hated on DAWs that have clip launchers just on your veiled attempts to paint them as more "advanced".

Anyway back to Ardour I'm sure those guys worked too hard to have it outshone by KVR shenanigans.

Is it the giant colorful blocks that make it look more advanced and innovative?

The waveform display alone puts it in the more advance and innovative category for me. I'm not sure what the giant colorful blocks do for people, but I sure don't think technological advancement.

We don't even have to talk about the usage of the show page, which most people skip. I'm pretty sure if the clip launcher existed in Studio One, a lot more people would use it that wouldn't. It's like advancing the scratch pad for the year 2022.

Nope, certainly not. It has a lot do to with being done by a professional designer though, rather than by someone who does the graphics besides being a coding and audio wizard. Hats of to Paul to even come up with such a good GUI in the first place. Plus the Studio One GUi is very modern in all regards (e.g. it's still one of the only DAWs that have full multitouch-compatibility). But it is a lot newer too, so that's not really much of a surprise.
