In Ghost OSC no, for a number of reasons... :scared:
In Music Cafe, most likely yes - I have the time, the idea and the desire to try it!) :violin:

I can chuck you some, but no idea of how useful they might be to you. Pretty basic stuff...

"Clutter from an utter butter" hahaha. Agree with IV - your entries are a delight even before the music starts. Love all the art and the nonsense. So glad you're back at OSC. You are such a unique character :)
Haha many thanks! :D Any luck with running Ghost in Reaper? If not, then use all creative energy for this month's Music Café :tu: A little scary, even for me, to get do whatever one feels like this month.

Are you joining us @IV! ?

I just sold some gear and might just buy some new real instrument, or hardware effect or some VST instruments/FXs and try to create something with these for the Music Café competition…
No, I even emailed the dev guy - and followed his suggestions - no luck. Also it doesn't work on 2 other friend's PCs I tried. I officially give up! Will be the first OSC in 2022 I don't enter. I will still listen, comment and vote though :)

And yes I will definitely do something for the music cafe (did you know we can submit two entries each this month?)

I will also produce a comedy spoof trailer song in SC this month (a present for a friend) - so watch out for that.

It's always exciting getting new gear. I hope you get it in time for the Oct Music Cafe! You work really fast - so you should be ok.

Looking forward to IV joining in too. Always love his work.

You forgot to write the DAW.

I'll upload some of the presets I've done too, it isn't many at all as I've not had much time recently...

And if anyone is interested, I've uploaded a simple 16 cycle wavetable bank that I created for Ghost using WaveEdit - I made it mostly for ease of use in creating more acoustic sounds.

Here is my submission for this month.

It is a bit overloaded with sounds for a reason: My goal was to make a sound presets bank to provide to Tré, the programmer of this synth. So I made couple of pads, leads, drums and fx. And of course I played around with all of them in my new song for testing to find out, how it sounds in a full arrangement. Sometimes you have to tweak them a lot in a full song. Because of that this song has 24 instances:
  • 5 drum sounds
  • 3 fx sounds
  • 7 pads/strings/ensembles
  • 3 leads
  • 5 pluck/piano sounds
  • 3 bass sounds
Besides that I made it in the DAW called Reaper using some standard in-built FX for EQ, compressor, limiter and a delay.

What is my experience with the Ghost synth? First of all, I like it very much. The ease of use and the visual feedback can be compared to Vital or Serum. The interface is similar. Vital still has more wavetables, more features like rendering your own wavetables, speech-to-wavetable or some more global settings. But the effects section in Ghost is better, especially the distortion effects are amazing. So only for creating distorted or saturated synth sounds I would rather use Ghost.

I am really interested in future updates of this synth.

I have updated my Entry. Find it here: viewtopic.php?p=8524705#p8524705

I think it's already very close to my final submission ... today I struggled with Ghost 0.3.7 which has some things changed to previous versions which in turn changed some of my sounds ... meh ... before I get into the cycle of frustration of getting next beta version followed by repairing my sounds, I call it a day.

I was afraid to update for the same reasons since I brute forced a lot of my sounds so who knows how things could change with my presets...

Also, I really like your submission, it's got a really dynamic punch to it. :)

Here's my submission!

I used to spend a lot of time trying to get old MIDI devices to have more characteristic guitar sounds, so I took that approach here. It meant lots of layering and manipulation of attack. It was a lot of fun and quite nostalgic too. I hope you enjoy, but I don't blame you if it isn't your thing. :hihi:

At first it was difficult to achieve a lot of sounds due to some of the bugs in previous versions, but 0.3.6 fixed that and I was able to work very quickly. GHOST as a synth has a lot of potential and for complex mono sounds like basses, percussion and leads it can really shine.

To achieve most of the sounds I did, the biggest help was actually sync modulated by one of the envelopes to give things a more percussive but still true to the original tone. To give more of a "acoustic" tone to some instruments, like snares and toms, I set Ghost's reverb to almost instant time and blended the wet/dry.

DAW: Reaper 6.68
Plugins used: ReaEQ, TSE BOD, Sonimus SonEQ, airwindows Verbity & TB Barricade 3.
Instances of GHOST: 46, version 0.3.6
Distortion: Yes please.

EDIT: I'll also upload the sounds I used as an attachment. It's in 7z format as zip can't get the file under the KVR limit! Please be aware the sounds are quite aimless and not very flexible (so no macro or easy modifications...), but I hope you find use of them. In the zip is also a small wavetable file for Ghost that I used for a few of the sounds.
