Good call - I feel guilty for having had my fair share in derailing this thread. But to my defense I can honestly says that I did my best to simply ignore Tesksonik's trolling in various VOS threads for about a decade.

That line speak volumes of the "tragedy" (strong word, I know) of plugin developers (and us, as users who burden ourselves by virtue of their mere existence) : the sheer amount of them plugs that just float around in the cyber space makes it a certainty that we fall to a cognitive bias.
Yes, I think we probably tend to have a lot less patience now than we used to have back in the day - we want to be blown away immediately when flicking through a couple of presets.

Thrillseeker VBL is very much on the subtle side of things... it works well after a more conventional track-compressor on individual sources and does wonders even though it still falls in the "is this thing even on" category - as such I guess I can kind of understand where Teksonik may be coming from.

But a relative steady gain-reduction of something like 5dB really helps tightening up stuff in a wonderful way - exactly because it is so subtle. It's hard to do much wrong with it, especially as it is rather easy to tweak once you figured out what it is doing and how it is working. So... put it on most tracks (unless you really feel like it is doing more harm than good) and if in doubt render with a without, then make an ABX-comparison...

but if you expect it to make an immediate night-and-day difference with a single instance you'll most probably be bound to be disappointed.

Yes.

I Think the link in<->out doesn't seem work as expected (or, at least, as >I< expected).
Sandwiching it between two BCA Gain plugs seem to yields what I was expecting.

Yeah, I'm running it with LetiMix GainMatch, but it'd be so much more useful if that option worked internally.

What is it doing on your machines? Here they are simply llinked negatively as one would expect and so far I didn't notice any strange behaviour...

Post

What do you mean by "linked negatively"?

Post

plus becomes minus and vice versa...

Well, the output seemingly is being lowered, when increasing input, but it's just graphics that tells me that, because the audio is getting louder. So it doesn't work as intended I'm sure.

Post

I see - that's strange - it's certainly not happening here...

audio get a bit louder on my end aswell with I/O linked when turning input up. not a huge deal imo though

Great! I didn't know that it had 64bit update!
It's still worth keeping in my VSTPlugins folder :)
