I don't see where Bitwig dies look like a toy at all. It's a simple, elegant interface with a good balance of controls vs space.

If anything looks like a toy, it's Logic. Candy-colored lickable with a horrible use of space.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

I’ve never seen a toy looking like Bitwig.
What’s wrong with people?

Show me those toys! :x :nutter:

It's a shame that this is seen by many as a negative. Something looking like a toy, especially if it doesn't come at the expense of information density and clarity (which I think is not the case for Bitwig), should mean it's approachable, easy to use, and inviting play and exploration. I'd argue that a UI that doesn't do those things is not a good UI for a tool that's used for creative expression.
Doesn't bother me personally, anyone who would be bothered by it is kinda doing it wrong. The GUI is supposed to not get in your way. Being easier to read and look at isn't a bad thing. I also like the orange and hope they never change it. One thing about Logics GUI is they've changed a lot of things about it that made it unique, the running man, chains, the green/grey etc. it's just boring to look at now. Even with that, if I wasn't married to Bitwig and Digital Performer, Logics bland GUI wouldn't be a deciding factor in using it.

Opening Bitiwig here, I'm confronted with primary red, yellow, blue and of course orange. The interface itself resembles an old video game far more than any other DAW I know of. None of these things are terrible, but if people wonder why the connection gets made, all they have to do is take a second to examine it. Personally anyone who will not use it because certain elements remind them of games or toys, is IMO welcome to not use it and leave us alone, if we don't have to deal with people who jam the word pro into every complaint they have about the software on public forums like this one, that's OK by me.

Maybe they mean toy as in Lamborghini or Moog One.

Only basic swing... no sort of groove extract and apply to track/clip

Yellow Ferrari?
I grew up with Lego (red white) and self made toys.
Bitwig “Brown Orange” is more like UPS delivering a case of Oranges.
Toy? :dog:

LOL. I used that one too... It was a bit mellower in my case though. Love his work. He does the UA Luna DAW as well which uses similar rendering methods.

Bitwig GUI is a carbon copy of Live's with different colors, nevertheless they made some changes for the better and others for the worse, the first is they have slight tone variations in buttons and controls that give a very slight "3d" feel. Second, the use of more colors, in some cases it works really great and in others it is too much as in the instruments.

Bitwig Track Headers are on the left - in Live, on the right
Bitwig Browser is on the right, Live's browser is on the left
The Live Browser stops above the Device Pane which extends to both sides.
The Bitwig browser extends to the bottom as does the Inspector so the Device Pane is narrower.
Bitwig has the Inspector which Live doesn't have.
And of course Bitwig has the Clip Launcher aligned with the Arrange

Yeah in general that’s a terrible take, they share a lot things in common, GUI isn’t one of them.
