Saw a link to this elsewhere and I'm curious if anyone else has tried it. It seems like there's no demo, but it's cheap and interesting...

I like K-devices stuff a lot. Their max for live devices are great. I have there other plugins. Will grab this too during the intro period. I’ve never been disappointed by anything they make and end up using it all in various tracks.

19euro a no-brainer. I bought it instantly. It's great fun!

I am interested as I like the other products I have of theirs but I also think a lot of Magma is covered by Unfiltered Audio Sandman Pro

Just to avoid confusion there is already another effect plugin called Magma.

I bought it. After some initial disappointment and regret, I think it has its uses -- but it's very situational. Not a plugin to slap on everything, and not a plugin where every setting is going to be good.
I find it works pretty well with drones. Either to heat-blast them and turn them into a sort of turbulent airflow, or to bring in a bit of subtle detuning or inharmonic overlay.
Sometimes it sounds a bit too disconnected from its input material. Other times the random "bumpiness" of the noise is just too much -- like someone backstage shaking a thunder sheet. At times it needs some post EQ in the chain, maybe Velvet Machine to smooth it out.
Or stick really heavy distortion after it
For any other material besides noise and drones I would keep it really, really subtle. Close to 0 on both Lo and Hi and keep it low in the mix, probably after some reverb. And maybe keep that post-EQ handy.
Or maybe use it on a fairly wide stereo signal and only apply it to the sides. I'm kind of getting cool stuff that way.

Just bought it but I faced a lot of bugs and troubles and I wrote to k device.
If I load it as fx in FL studio 20, Bitwig, VCV rack and Ableton it makes my Pc hang.
Can’t operate moving window make program crag and can’t also resize.
win 11, Cpu I9 9900K, RTX 3080, 32 gb ram.
Anyone else?

I have no problem with it in Bitwig. Windows 10, Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1650, 16 GB.

Ok a little update.
Work like it should forcing using RTX graphic card in NVIDIA app. This is for Bitwig, cubase and Ableton.
Problem still remain in FL studio (you have to pi j bridged mode to make it usuable) and VCV rack (using host fx extension).
Hope K device would look into it and solve it.

Seems just like a simple granular freezing effect with pitch control and a saturator.

Stefano, from K-Devices replied me that the one reported is a known bugs and that they are working hard to fix it. Great company.

Thx for your detailed feedback on Magma! (which I just bought).foosnark wrote: Fri Sep 30, 2022 10:16 pm I bought it. What i liked in Magma is surprisingly not the freezing itself (since looks rather common feature at today market), but what it does during distorted under built-in Temperature knob + can enable RAW button. Although there are also many dist's ofcourse, but this (together with freezing) is something special, like rightly described above "thunder outside" lol. Moreover, in the form of not a static distorted texture, but having a pronounced dynamical "rumble" (depending it seems on greatly increased mess of texture transients), that can be pretty fun for various design.
