I have been working on kick drums in serum and I'm having problems with noise from serums OTT. The noise sounds like bit reduction.

If you OTT a Sin wave inside Serum at sub frequencies you get clicking form the compressor. Increasing the release on the compressor seems to get rid of most of the clicking. The problem is as soon as you add any kind of external compression, like a second OTT, suddenly there is very loud noise over the top that sounds like bit reduction. The problem gets even worse if you then drop a LFO on the volume of the sine wave. Obviously modulating the volume is necessary for kick creation.

I can't figure out how to get rid of the noise. It's in the background of all the kicks I make. OTT is a very quick way to get a modern aggressive kick sound. I know for a fact lots of producers are using it to create kicks... so what's the deal here?

So I did a little more experimenting. If you go easy on the OTT you can no longer hear the noise. Its still down there under the sound though.

Would love a real fix if anyone knows...

Maby the noise is coming from gaining the source with the upward compression? I mean if the source already had some noise, then you will get it even more (louder) with the upward compression.
