Hi Brian, are you guys aware of the fact that the system 1 plug in built for apple silicon is completely unusable? this was discussed here last week. the system 8 plugin works perfectly, and has very low cpu usage, but the system 1 plugin completely overloads the cpu creating continuous clicks and pops.
While testing this in logic, I also tried running a track containing system 1 on one of the other cores ( you do this by ensuring that the track is not selected or in input mode), and while the cpu consumption was lower, logic was producing constant synchronisation errors. Again with system 8 there were absolutely no issues.

Do people find that there is a lot of overlap between the D-50 and JD-800? I read that the jd-800 came with the D-50 waveforms (not sure if all of them) and was in some ways an updated version a few years later. As a lifetime selection do you think the JD-800 pretty covers the D-50?

They're both very different instruments. I love the JD sound and never thought all that much on the D-50. I heard that the JP8000 was requested as a very popular instrument after the recent Jupiter release. I hope, once that is released, that Roland Cloud will look into the JD990+Vintage Card and the V-Synth. There's only a few digital powerhouses left that I'd love to see in the catalog

The JD-800 has 3 filter types - low, high and band pass while the D-50 has a low pass.
There's no PWM on the JD-800.
D-50 has 128 PCM waveforms (plus a standard square wave (can use PWM) and a saw) and JD-800 has 108 PCMs.
I like the D-50's structure choices, some include a ring modulator which is nice to have. Also, the Lower can have a different structure setting than the Upper.
I like both synths. The JD-800 is very easy to use, but I prefer the D-50.

Great summary thanks! After posting I did do a bit of reading on differences in the hardware versions. Wasn’t sure if any of that changed with the software versions. Sounds like they are different enough. Is there much overlap in then waveforms? I’m surprised the D-50 has more since it’s older.Examigan wrote: Sat Oct 22, 2022 7:00 pmHere is an article you may find interesting:Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sat Oct 22, 2022 11:37 am Do people find that there is a lot of overlap between the D-50 and JD-800? About the PCMs, there's not a ton of overlap. Some of them are similar, but are slightly higher quality on the JD-800. Like the Pizz PCM for example, it's a bit more clear and fuller sounding compared to the D-50 version.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Oct 23, 2022 1:54 am Is there much overlap in the waveforms? Here are some of the PCMs in the lists from both synths to see a kind of comparison, at least the names of them anyway.

Anyone remembers what Roland did in terms off sales/ offers for Black Friday or Christmas? I'm hoping for Play4life.
Also can you get futher PLay4life offers by "banking" a years subscription when you are mid way through your current subscription?

I think this was the latest Play-4-Life offer. I believe it is the same as what they usually have in December:ChamomileShark wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 9:35 am Anyone remembers what Roland did in terms off sales/ offers for Black Friday or Christmas? I'm hoping for Play4life.

I'm pretty sure I did this and it just got added to whatever was remaining so I had 6 months and it became 18 months or similar, bit like what happens with the Bitwig annual plan.
