It's going to be asked later. Been using both as of late. What do you guys think the pro's, and con's for both is? Which DAW do you prefer working in (if you have both)? This is just a topic for discussion.

Not much has changed really. Use the one you like more, both are great.

Maybe YOU should start with the pros and cons and what YOU prefer, if you want to start a discussion... Now it will be another meaningless topic.wuworld wrote: Sat Oct 22, 2022 9:19 pm It's going to be asked later. Been using both as of late. What do you guys think the pro's, and con's for both is? Studio One sampler has been bugged for years, Cubase’ sampler track is ace. S1 has better workflow/interface, Cubase is WAY more powerful IMO.

Last year, I switched from S5.5 to C12 because C12 has more features I prefer. I was willing to demo S6, but after reading about how much it was like Kontakt 7 ("Nothing to see here, folks. Move along."), I passed.
If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

I switched from Studio One v5 to Cubase last year. Too many bugs in Studio One that go unfixed or even unacknowledged for years. That said, Cubase has its fair share of problems and bugs too, but they don't tend to affect usability as much. Things like delay compensation, automation, timing and other core features at least tend to work flawlessly and not break randomly because they released an update to fix something else unrelated.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

I own and use both SO6 and C12. If money was an issue and I could only afford one it would be C12 all the way. If I was recommending one to someone just starting out with producing music, it would be SO6 because of the lesser learning curve.

Out of the two who does the best with 1. bug fixes 2. CPU performance?summer2000 wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 10:39 pm I own and use both SO6 and C12. I switched to S1 at about Cubase 8 or 9…just tried the 12 demo out of interest but still much prefer S1…Cubase may well have more features, but I just find it cluttered and a bit disjointed…for me it’s still S1, but they are both more than capable.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

2. S1
Cubase might tick more points than S1, but in the end does it matter? Use whatever you feel more comfortable with or (better feeling in general). If you feel great using both, then use both
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I've played a bit with the latest beta of the Mulab plugin (Live Matrix) in Cubase and at the first glance seems work well
from BC Patchwork as VST2 wrapper even the 'space' key reaches the transporter of Cubase from opened plugin windows(plugin>Mulab>BC Patchwork > Cubase) which is pretty wow (on mac) so fingers crossed, S1 has its own instrument container so at least they're even now from this point of view, Live Matrix so a MIDI note triggerable clip launcher is just a bonus

It astonishes me that, after all these years, I'm still learning new stuff about Cubase.
Today, I discovered "Automation Follows Events." Silly me. When I moved tracks in time, I had to go back and rewrite all those automation points in again.
Then again, I only learned last week that I don't have to eyeball volume levels with those tiny dots in the automation lane since there's a section on the main screen to input numbers.

Yeah, and who even needs the most powerful host? I just need the one that gets my work done with the least hassle, "power" isn't a thing I am looking for at all.
