We don't have the box yet. I was thinking about alternative packaging for the upgrades though. Something like DVD cases. But, of course, any of you guys who wanted the box could still have it. It's just that esoundz could theoretically ship the upgrade now if we didn't do the same exact packaging as the standard non-upgrade one that will be in retail stores.

The fun of that would be that people would have it, talk about it, enjoy it etc. I have to see if we can do that.

Okay... Now that SS2 is here (almost), I'm getting curious. Will the sounds of SS2 -- incl. combis -- load into ST2 ? I've noticed that the demo of SS2 loaded the sounds outside of my ST2 folder.

Sorry to ask this for I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but a quick search didn't find it.

Edit: As for the box - sans box discussion: I could enjoy SS2 without a box

Squids I would happily have mine without a box - in fact, I would probably prefer it - easier for delivery to the UK - as long as I had the content ie. software and sounds i'm happy. Afterall, that is what I am really paying for.

Can I arrange for mine to be sent in non-standard package - I would really like in time for xmas.

I would also prefer the upgrade without the box because, as beautiful as some of them are, I just end up throwing them away conserve space.

I don't care about boxes. If it would be cheaper and/or easier to send just discs in a mailer, that would be copacet- er, I mean, fine with me. ;-) If it's easier for y'all to wait and send out all of them in boxes, avoiding special handling for some orders, no problem. I'm a patient creature.

If there's any printed documentation, I'd prefer to have it; if that means waiting for a box, okay.

just like baggio i'd prefer no box
shove the disks in an old dvd case, pop it in a jiffy bag and i'll be happy :D

Normally I would like a box if there is a resale value to the item - in this case there is not so no box is fine.

Do we need to email esoundz to arrange a non-box delivery squids.

Well, having the boxed version of Sonik Synth 1/ST2XL and the DVD-case for the Tron sounds, i think the DVD case idea is the way to go - far more practical (my ST2XL box was beat up to hell, and that was just a 200 mile journey from london). There is no practical need for boxed packaging anymore (except for sequencers - large manual, dongle etc), as now the manual will come on PDF, while thanks to DVD, the physical product only consists of 2 shiny discs.

Plus, wouldn't it all look far more elegant alongside all those forthcoming DVD-cased Sonik Synth 2 expansion packs...wouldn't it Squids? ;)

I like the dvd case idea is it has artwork on it. Lol I know that sounds stupid but I like my stuff in nice packaging...like the capsules look really cool in their dvd cases bacause of the cool artowrk. I am just weird I guess but that is honestly how I feel.

Heh, I don't even care for DVD cases -- paper envelopes are good enough for me (though I'm sure not everyone will feel that way). I put nearly all my CDs and DVDs into big ol' binders, eight discs per page. :-)

In fact, when my SS1/ST2XL/everything bundle arrived, there were soooo many discs that I had to go out and buy a new binder, then rearrange all my stuff. My music/audio and graphics/video stuff used to share a 208-disc binder. Now the sound software and samples are in their own big ol' honkin' great binder, and I'm no longer about to run out of spare space for new items.

Pardon me if this has already been addressed -- I did a quick look and couldn't find anything about it, but it's a kinda-sorta biggish thread... so...

When I ordered the SS2 upgrade, there was a choice for "ST2 sample import." I didn't pick that option. Am I right to think that if I don't mind using both the ST2 and the SS2 plug-in, that option won't be necessary? Or would adding the ST2 sample import provide a compelling improvement in what I could do, what sounds I could make?

Sorry if it's a dumb question. I'd rather look foolish than keep wondering, and maybe lose out on something good. :-)

From the esoundz website....

** Sonik Synth 2 is a closed sound module designed to play its own proprietary sounds. It does not have sample import capability. When you select the 'add sample import' option above, we will include a special limited-time copy of the SampleTank 2 engine with your order, which does offer sample import capability and a host of other features in addition to being able to play all Sonik Synth 2 sounds.

Hope that helps. Sounds like you already have ST2 so you are fine.

*nod* Read that at the time -- it's the bit I quoted above that made me wonder.

[edit] Now, HERE is a host with distinctive features!

Sonik Synth 2 sounds (and combis too) can be read by SampleTank 2.

The "add sample import capability" was short-hand for "add SampleTank 2 engine-only limited time upgrade". The only reason we didn't just put that is because we didn't want to confuse people into thinking it needed the SampleTank 2 app to run. It is it's own app (albiet closed sound module version) that is based on the ST2 engine. So, since ST2 has sample import features, reads all ST format sounds and has other benefits it is something to expand your Sonik Synth 2 set up with (and of course if you are already an ST2 owner then Sonik Synth 2 is something to expand you available sounds by many times).

As for non-boxed versions, I think we might be able to do something for the upgrades only. I'll let you know.
