It's surprising that they're not going to even sell them anymore. Good reminder - I'm going to do that now. No way I want to lose access to these.gaggle of hermits wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 8:45 am you can pop an authorisation for the older plugins onto an iLok dongle and use that, which might provide a bit more longevity

If you manage to get that working, let us know.
I've reached out with a ticket follow-up and asked that very same question. If this saves us from a possible "C/R activation drop" (after 27th October 2023), I'll convert those licenses at a heartbeat.
As a sidenote:
Continuing to sell all "just dropped" tools, would only result in even more backlash.

I’m not convinced that discontinuing a record number of products is going to save them. Fxpansion discontinued plugins if someone sneezed the wrong way and they still collapsed in on themselves like a dying star.

iZotope got bought out a while ago, same company now mostly owns NI and PluginAllience. None of this is surprising, and to people claiming this is all software, explain PSP, Fabfilter, U-He, DMG Audio, etc. etc. even IK don't really deprecate product.masterhiggins wrote: Thu Oct 27, 2022 12:16 am I’m not convinced that discontinuing a record number of products is going to save them. I'll be diving more into RP-Distort 2 I guess. I already have it from the upgrade promo from v1. I don't know if there's really anything that'll be as versatile as Trash 2. The heads at NI & iZotope must've seen Trash as too much competition for NI's Dirt and Bite effects.KimFish wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 10:22 pm For Trash 2, hope there’s good alternatives I could find, it’s really a good one… Not gonna purchase any iZotope plugins from today btw

Yes, when you need to feed the investors, software maintenance seems like a tedious consumer of tasty profits.machinesworking wrote: Thu Oct 27, 2022 12:32 amiZotope got bought out a while ago, same company now mostly owns NI and PluginAllience. LOL @ including IK in the list of vendors who keep at it. You're not wrong, it's just rare to see a sentence defending IK and Uhe at the same time.

For all intents and purposes, these were dropped already. The last update to Trash 2 was from December 2019. I think that dropping them is about not wanting to invest maintenance effort into updates driven by new OS requirements. Well, new Apple requirements pretty much captures all of that.Compyfox wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 11:56 pm If you manage to get that working, let us know.

All of my izotope licenses are on iLok, for those that haven't done it, it's not hard to do, at least it didn't used to be hard to do. I haven't purchased anything new from iZotope in a while.

Please don't remind me about FXpansion. Still a little bit salty about Etch and Maul...
Thankfully, both saw suitable replacements thanks to Modular Environments... and once more "Kilohearts", and then there is also "Minimal Audio" now.
But again, this is about iZotope.
Second, PSP Audio did drop the occasional plugin, or rather haven't updated them in quite a while. IK Multiumedia did deprecate certain standalone amps and suites, however incorporated them into upgrades (Amplitube, T-Racks, etc).
This is not that simple -- but the handling has been... yeah.
But again... this is still about iZotope.
As mentioned earlier: Kilohearts -- MultiPass, Convolver, one of the big EQs, some modules of the "Essential Bundle". This might get you close. Unfortunately, it will not offer as many saturation/distortion modes. You can also try a modular subhost, in combination with NUGEN Audio's SigMod, Melda Production MSaturate/MWaveshaper and any custom IR loader (like Kilohearts Convolver).
On the table is also Fabfilter Saturn, but it's also not as powerful.

First and foremost -- I still think that "Soundwide" is actually a holding type situation (like "InMusic" for companies like AKAI, Sonivox and Air Music Tech -- or the "Music Tribe" for Behringer, Klark Teknik, Aston Microphones, tc.electronic/tc.Helicon, Tannoy, etc). However, the page is still as vague as it can be. The one company that talked about Soundwide the most, was actually Plugin Alliance. However only iZotope had an article by CEO Mark Cattini (who previously worked at "Clickforce", and prior to that for 8 years at "Autotask Corp"). Native Instruments kept things "fairly neutral" (a lot has happened with them since 2017 as well).machinesworking wrote: Thu Oct 27, 2022 12:32 am iZotope got bought out a while ago, same company now mostly owns NI and PluginAllience. That really sucks. I hope RX gets sold to someone else. Nothing even comes close to their algos. Don’t get me wrong. As a company I like Acon much better, but something about RX’s algos is so good it’s a bit unsettling. They’re on the same level as Zynaptiq’s unveil algo. Whoever designs them has to be a genius.machinesworking wrote: Thu Oct 27, 2022 12:32 amiZotope got bought out a while ago, same company now mostly owns NI and PluginAllience. What I like about iZotope is the U/I and, this is personal, but I'm not looking for tools like Kilohearts as a substitute. Trash 2 is visual, flexible, and immediate.Compyfox wrote: Thu Oct 27, 2022 1:06 am

Yes, the simplicity of the UI is often the decisive factor.
But it would be an alternative. That's all I'm saying.
The better alternative would be a proper v2.x update, or even v3. However, that is currently out of the question.

And don't forget the big: "we acquired the Wolfgang Palm's PPG company " in 2020 and where Wolfgang Palm was happy to find a company that will support his current products. Two years later: nada, no updates, no re-releases, just a PPG Filter inside the MEGA Subscription Sampler
