Anything and everything about MIDI - arp, mapper, mangler, generator, chorder, controller, utility, fx etc.

Hello All!
Way, way back I said I would post a few more of my experiments that show off some of the few (many?) 'AI' tools I have. Well, I finally finished another one! This track is called Reach of the Fire. Typically, I mix and match all these tools (The Orb stuff, Feel Your Sound, Instacomposer, Rapid Composer), but I was liking what I was getting out of the Chillout Engines....errr....engine, so I just ran with it. This one is along the lines of my 'moody electronica'. (Most of the below text I copied from my post over at another forum... I know a few of us frequent both, so apologies for making you read some of this twice.
)
One of the 'tricks' I often use is to find a few of the more 'melodic type' phrases that work together and use them to put together the string section. That is how is the string section in this track was done. I did something similar with the piano part towards the end (using 2 melodic lines), but its very subtle in the mix.
Basically, the song began with a main chord progression I plunked out on the piano. Over time, I started adding/creating more atmospheric background and pad sounds. I used all manner of things over here.... synth, samplers, noises, etc. Once I decided I kind of liked where it was going, I dropped that basic chord midi into Chillout Engine and just let it do its thing. Honestly, it is pretty rare that I use the 'AI generated' midi as is with no additional editing, but in this case, it all seemed to work. I just altered the playback speed and octaves of the midi inside the plugin.
Anyhow ... enough yakin'. Feel free to ask any other questions or send critique, criticism, etc.
I have the links below to soundcloud and youtube if you like a side of visualization with your meat. Oh, before I forget.... I did finally give the Imaginando VS (Visual Synthesizer) a try for the (reactive) visualizations. You don't have to run it standalone. It runs as a plug in in your DAW project. I put the VST on the master channel and routed some audio and midi into it. It was my 1st go with it, so have some grace! I'm just getting a feel for how it works and the best way of using it.
Many thanks in advance for reading and listening!

I've been looking at this, but without any vids (that I could see) I'm not sure I can make heads or tails out of what it can offer. I have a few of the HY sequencers, so not sure how different it may be?Digivolt wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 4:48 pm https://510k.myshopify.com/collections/ ... -sequencer
New sequencer not by HY plugs but coded by Tadashi
You know... there is a sequencer that I have been looking for. I have been on the hunt for a NON Ableton Live/Max version of the Euclidian Pro Sequencer. From the vids it looks like the Euclidian section can act as a sort of 'gate' or note trigger and step thru the note you program on the plug in internal piano roll. Most of the Euclidian vst plugs I have seem to just attach one note per Euclidian track (if that makes sense). So basically, the Euclidian pattern would just play like C3 and the other would only play G4, etc.
It's quite possible I have something that could work, but am just missing it! Any ideas?

I'm looking for a vst (or reaper jsfx) that allows you to hold a chord on a midikeyboard, and then use the modwheel/cc (or even mouse) to strum the notes (and the same notes in octaves above and below). Should be pretty simple, but haven't found anything as a vst. I know there's the strummer in some Soniccouture instruments that does what I want, but I'd like some more control, for example over velocity and keyrange.

Perhaps that can be done inside Bidule or Mux or the new PlugData.

Last day of sale for Tatat (Unstable Steams Generator): https://k-devices.com/products/tatat/
Saw it flagged up on VI-Control a couple days ago and ended up buying on the basis of this video: (K-Devices' own demo video wasn't overly inspiring).
Cut-n-paste from my initial review on VI-C: -
It's fine. For much of what it does, I could probably cobble something fairly similar-ish together with RandArp/Piz MIDI plugins, but it would take more effort.
What I like about it:
(i) Everything I've clicked on so far is automatable (haven't tried automating the actual time-signature values yet though; just various sliders and dials. Hope they can be automated too - could be interesting)(or not);
(ii) It's limited to four notes. This makes it easier to base the sequences on chords, which is much more my style than the "lock to scale" approach which seems more common with MIDI auto-generating software.
(iii) The chords can be entered from any MIDI input (I just used Reaper's piano roll). This was a deal-breaker - otherwise pitch-entry is click-and-drag only, which is a no-no for me (and makes most arp and sequencer plugins I've tried unusable).
Early days yet, but so far this ticks more of my boxes than other similar plugins I've tried.

Still demo-ing, but i agree with you. Cool feature. Still trying to see if adds anything to the collection of HY sequencers I have. Stepic has been my latest fave.simmo75 wrote: Thu Oct 27, 2022 2:23 pm I ended up buying Seqund after properly demoing.
I really like the probability between the 2 parallel seqs.

Like a lot of the KDevices stuff, it looks really simple, but ends up having a big sweet spot. I agree that being able to ‘feed it chords’ opens this up a lot.

I've never understood the point of anything random or probable in a sequencer. One minute it's there, next it's lost in the abyss of chance. Like how can I capture what I like in that moment? The thought of constantly recording the sequence and going back to cut out bits makes me tired.

Yeah, I agree, I like to be able to control it.Raddler1 wrote: Sun Oct 30, 2022 1:36 am I never understood the point of anything random or probable in a sequencer. There must be a way to have the buffer not constantly randomize in Tatat?
I’ve not used it.
