Hi,
I have the following motherboard currently:
Gigabyte Intel LGA 20113 X99 4way SLI/CrossFireX ATX Motherboards
GAX99UD4

Following is my processor:
Intel Core i75960X HaswellE 8Core 3.0GHz

I am looking to upgrade my motherboard since the current one does not have any thunderbolt ports that i can use. Can someone suggest a good motherboard which i can upgrade to?

Your system is too old, need to buy new CPU, motherboard and
maybe RAM and CPU cooler.
Attention, the new motherboard will be TB(Thunderbolt) 4 and does
not work well with TB 2 audio interfaces.

I would probably do one at a time. What motherboard can I get for my purpose?
I have a home studio and work with high end VSTs/samples mostly.

Your system is too old, there is no new motherboard with Thunderbolt to buy.
IF you can find a working second hand, this is the Thunderbolt 2 card compatible

Yes.
But your system is old, you will not be able to find compatible stuff.
Maybe second hand.

If I need to get a new processor, which one would you recommend for music producers?
I generally tend to use a lot of VSTs and record very little audio.

Go with a Zxx or Bxx chipset Intel motherboard.
Low cost Radeon graphics with dual out 4 gb min. (someday you will need dual display)
Get the most recent CPU that you can afford.
If you are not in to orchestral, 16 gb ram is enough. Otherwise go for 32 gb.
