Hi,

I know you can do good stuff with these synths especially when it's mixed well, but I have tried both and they sound lifeless to me.
For example Spire has much deeper sound.

Or is it just me?

Have you compared it with Spire?

Do you program your own patches or is your observation based on factory patches?

Serum and Vital are quite straight digital. Spire has a little bit more personality and character that’s always there. Just different designs.

Sure! All great synths. I just go back to Serum most of the time even though Vital is really fun to work with.
Spire workflow is not as fluid.

You should really dig into Serum’s filters. That’s where a significant amount of the Duda’s effort has gone into the last couple of years, along with the distortion effect. Click around. Play with the noise options too. The bog-standard Serum presets are just ok, but getting in there and doing some LFO and envelope assignments really help it to come alive. Also Spire has a that shape module on its output, with some really nice distortion options. That’s part of Spire’s charm. Serum has the same option but you have to add it as an effect

With clean, digital, wavetable synths you need to impart character manually. Modulation is key, so you'll want to make custom LFO shapes and leverage the Chaos modulators in Serum. Find analog wavetables as well, where the waveform varies slighltly.

That's why you want various synths like analog modeling ones. Workflow is often as important as capabilities.

Just you...

It's me too. In fact, that is why I decided to purchase Sylenth1 (apart from the fact that I do not make any future genres)
