I have asked this on the Discord today but it might get lost as it was before a discussion so hopefully, someone can help me.

Are we allowed to use the Ableton Auto filter? I think I asked this a long time ago and was suggested no and only to use the filters offered by the synth itself (which is what I have done up till now) but looking at the ok plugins there are other filters that do the same as Auto Filter. Or are they allowed but the built-in one isn't for some other reason like the LFO/S&H or Envelope?

As it stands it is probably 95% finished but would appreciate any feedback for last-minute adjustments. I do plan on filtering the main melody parts more but am wanting to know the answer I asked above if the stock filter plugin is ok to use or do I need to use another one?
Hi, I left some feedback on your soundcloud (including typos :dog:)
As far as filtering is concerned, what is wrong with the inbuilt filters of the synth? Admittedly it's a bit unusual, that there's a filter for each oscillator, but no global filter. You could modulate any filter with macros, so to automate only one parameter.
As for using filter plugins, I would ask myself, if it isn't changing the sound of the synth too drastically. As I read the rules, the usage of filters is not prohibited, as long as the plug-ins are stock or free. But I would use them as sparingly as possible.
Effects - what is NOT allowed:
[...]
Turning up the effect too much where it transforms the nature of the synth (Heavy overdrive / distortion, etc)

Any effect that transforms the sound to make them unrecognizable as being from the synth (Overdrive, heavy distortion, bit crushing, or related). Never go full 11

Not a lot of action this month, it seems. That's a pity, it's a good synth!

I played around with Ghost early on, but there's no chance of finishing this by the 31., but I'll post what I've got as a *NON-ENTRY*, if anyone's interested in listening in.

Loved the sound and workflow - the only minus was that I had problems with some "self-altered" volume levels when I reopened my file, and I also had to play through the song once when I reopened to "jump-start" all the sounds again (it doesn't recognize them immediately) (Studio One).

It's a very derivative start - it struck me when I listened again that it's about 97% likely that someone have used this exact theme and chord progression before in some synthwave track. And in the final few bars it just kinda falls apart - I would definitely go in a different direction if I were ever to go back and finish it.

Anyway, best of luck to all those who participate!

I do already have I think 1 filter on the instrument that I want to filter to create some general movement with the LFO. When I have tried to use a 2nd one it didn't seem to sound give the opening-up effect I was after as the Ableton one allows you to add some distortion to it too. I guess I will just do the automation in the instrument so no one can complain but I do find it less intuitive somehow doing it that way.

I guess the issue that makes things murky for a lot of these rules is as far as I understand if you can do it in the synth then it is all good but actually proving you didn't do it in the daw with a plugin is trust without observing the source daw file.

there is a global filter in the effects section. you can put distortion before it in the chain, and stack multiple filters if you like.

personally, i try to do everything in the synth if at all possible mostly because i find it more fun that way, but i'm not going to dock points from anyone for choosing a different route. :)

Since I had some crashes, in Cubase Elements using Ghost VST3 beta,
for this month I tried the '1 instance' entry.
And it was interesting to compose for single sound, although I'm not
satisfied with the patch: I wanted a sweet and powerful sound but I
couldn't make it powerful without some nastiness in it. Needed more
work maybe.

i don't know if it's quite right, cause formaggino is other than a little cheese, but rather a surrogate of cheese
i always hated it

Did the final upload of my track. It required some mixing improvements after I checked it on phone speakers and earbuds:

About time I made a new entry - first one this year :)

https://soundcloud.com/richard-semper/one-ghost

Made with a Single Instance of Ghost. No external Fx used.

Played as a mono synth using LFOs for rhythm, sequencing and pitch mods. All mixing done by playing the four macros and modwheel, then editing the recorded automation on the timeline.

I did a lot of fine tuning for my song. I hope that this will not cause any organizational problems.
Many greetings!
