I just purchased an iLok USB dongle, I already have an existing email with virtual iLok licenses, do I need a new email?

I just purchased an iLok USB dongle, I already have an existing email for iLok virtual where I stored my licenses, so... ???
Shall I create a new email address for the iLok USB dongle, or key the same one?
Does activating on the same address counts as 1 (virtual + USB = 1 activation), or does it count for 2 activations?
Also I heard it's expensive in case I lose the USB stick to change things with Avid support, so what's best to do?
I'm doing this to have all my licenses BOTH AT THE SAME TIME on virtual + physical (in case I have no Internet sometimes).
Cheers.

the iLok dongle you must use with same email for iLok, because the licenses are tight to that email... (if can make of course 2 accounts, but you must buy 2 times... in that case, not to the point...).spnc wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 4:20 pm I just purchased an iLok USB dongle, I already have an existing email for iLok virtual where I stored my licenses, so... ???

activating on virtual + usb counts as 2 activations. most give you 2 activations, some give you 3.
you want to activate virtual + physical, when you have no internet, that is the reason? the physical dongle, needs no internet, i don't know about the virtual (i don't use it).
i have 2 iLok dongles, yes, yes, yes, for 2 systems.
when one breaks, or gets lost, you must retrieve via the brands themselves, i belief, the licenses.
you have, what is called ZDT, zero downtime, but it costs you... ( https://www.ilok.com/#!zdt-coverage )
besides that, i prefer the dongle method, the physical method..
i hope i understand you questions...

Can a license that is on an iLok USB also be used with iLok Cloud?
Only licenses that are iLok Cloud enabled can be activated to the iLok cloud. Note that iLok Cloud compatible licenses will appear with a new iLok Cloud logo.
Some publishers give more than one activation with their licenses. If you have more than one activation, you are able to use both the iLok USB and iLok Cloud.
For publishers that only allow a single activation with their license, the licesne needs to be in the iLok Account and not on a iLok USB or computer (i.e. machine-based licensing).
Any licenses on physical iLok USBs or computers will continue to work normally regardless of any iLok Cloud Sessions that are open.

I believe it's only when you lose your ilok, if it breaks, you submit an RMA and send the broken ilok to ilok and they'll recover the licenses and send you a new ilokWasteLand wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 4:33 pm when one breaks, or gets lost, you must retrieve via the brands themselves, i belief, the licenses.

Ah that's nice actually, I don't mind paying the bucks as long as they ship ALL the licenses stored on the USB stick.Digivolt wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 5:06 pmI believe it's only when you lose your ilok, if it breaks, you submit an RMA and send the broken ilok to ilok and they'll recover the licenses and send you a new ilokWasteLand wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 4:33 pm when one breaks, or gets lost, you must retrieve via the brands themselves, i belief, the licenses.
Yeah ok let's go then!
By the way, does it mean I need to store the number of the USB stick very carefully? Or is this USB stick number stored on the iLok website, when I register it the first time on my iLok account online?

Great summary thank you - understood now. I'll stick to having everything under the same email.WasteLand wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 4:33 pmthe iLok dongle you must use with same email for iLok, because the licenses are tight to that email... I have an old and unused iLok 1 from which I transfer licenses to the new iLok3. Can I make copies of the sinners of Ilok 3 plugins for Ilok 1 so that I could use one of them in the event of a failure of these duplicate licensed plugins as a copy? It is obvious that not all plugins can be duplicated because part does not work with Ilok 1 but those that will be given can be cloned between these two iloks and used in the event of a failure?
