Most DAWs of some sort or another have always had some sort of knobs about them. What knobs have stood out for you to be the most useful, intelligent - well-designed and aesthetically pleasing for you among the DAWs out there over the years?
What makes a good knob?

ive always liked the knobs in FL Studio. A good knob to me is something like this (that big metal knob):

Easy on the eyes, easy to find, no special FX and no stupid colours, accurate, and without overly trying to look like "analog" counter-parts (Arturia etc, hello!).

Best knobs: Ableton, Serum VST, Reason.

For me MuLab wins in this category with it's snazzy built in knob designer. :tu:

It's new in MuLab 9 I believe and still in need of more features (color for instance). It's basically a lite clone of the gK2000 knobman (or whatever). It's only for the DAW, it doesn't export knobs. Better off using knobman for that. Still, it's a cool thing, more DAWs should follow suit imo.

Knobs are utilitarian. They don't need to be skeuomorphic or "beautiful". They just need to sit there quietly and do their job well when asked. Same as menus, buttons, sliders, pickers, or any other widget.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

I don't really care , as long as they're able to map to Midi CC's, I'm going to assign them to a controller anyways. As much as I don't have to look at a plugin, the better.

I made Dune 3 mostly knobless here.

Your skins look nice. But I love the knobs in Dune so I wouldn't want to get rid of them!
