CMI WIDI Thru6 BT Hybrid MIDI Hub

This combines wired and wireless MIDI into a single device, which they are offering on pre-order for less than $50 delivered. That's a crazy stupid price for a 1 IN, 5 THRU MIDI hub - 2 x Wired and 3 x Bluetooth. Input is wired.

CMI have an endorsement from Roger Linn (and others), which is good enough for me. It will be a great way to combine my wired hardware synths with my Roli stuff and Erae Touch over BT.

Is there really no interest in this thing? I ordered one the minute I read about it.

Looks pretty kewl actually. I have all those bases covered separately, but this unit looks like it would tidy all that up in pretty package with a bow! I think I may have to score one meself....especially, while the intro sale is on.
Thanks for the heads up!

Yes, I was intrigued by that as well. The good news is that I got notification yesterday that the devices have been manufactured and deliveries have commenced.

I've been getting the shits with eBay lately. I had three things to sell and, so far, I've had three non-payers. I'm abouut to list one of the items for a third time. eBay seems more and more oriented towards buyers, not sellers and their fees are now 13.4%, which is ridiculous. When I started selling stuff it was around 5%-6%.

I feel your pain regarding eBay. I've been selling, (and buying), on that platform for over twenty years. They have always taken the side of buyers over sellers, (not so bad if you're buying), and it's gotten continually worse over the years. And yeah, they've gotten greedy with the fee hikes too. Also, when they still were affiliated with PayPal you had access to YOUR money immediately. This current payout scheme is BS. They hold your money for as long as they can so as to make $ from the interest. When you add all sellers to that equation that's some serious cashish. On the other end they've made the return process protracted as well.....again holding on to user's money to earn interest.
Finally, like so many other things, they've gone further to shiite due to the pandemic and subsequent inflation. Sellers have been pricing themselves out of the market. There's no real reason for used gear prices to have risen so sharply. But it's the same all over. New gear dealers have been jacking up their prices too. And don't even get me started on the vintage market. 60's MIJ & European shit guitars that you could score for $50 are now, in some cases going for ten times that. I'm sorry but there's just no way I'm paying $500 for a guitar that plays like $50.
And then there's the other side of the coin. With the current worldwide, (yeah it's not just a US problem caused by Dems as some would have you believe), economic situation buyers simply don't have as much disposable income. It's lose/lose scenario.

I like the idea of over-the-air MIDI, so this gadget sounds good. But apart from my laptop, I don't have a single item in my studio that has bluetooth on it, and at least 4 synths are new this or last year. Can't really see any use in it...though I wouldn't object if it became a thing with hw in the future. I'd love to have less spaghetti around the studio. In fact if I could do both midi and audio over bluetooth, I'd be happy.

You can buy Bluetooth-MIDI dongles that plug into your MIDI In/Out and USB on your computer. The band that played before us, last time we were in Germany, used them on all their synths and said they worked really well, with no detectable latency. They cost about as much as this little hub, though, so the price would add up pretty quickly, I reckon.'

That's a lot of dongles. I guess it makes it doable though. Possibly stupid question - do you need a different dongle in each of the midi in AND out, or 1 dongle plugs into both the midi in and out? I have only 7 synths hooked up at the moment, but if I used everything...more than that.

They come in in/out pairs, mostly (depending on what brand you buy). But some of them only work with macOS and iOS.
