Depends are what you're looking for really.
But off the top of my head I found these to be the similar in character and even superior in certain ways.
Rob Papen Blue II
Tone 2 Gladiator 3
However, I find Steinberg's HALion 6 more of complete powerhouse over all three.

Do you happen to be a Logic user? If yes, you’ve got Alchemy, which is a great alternative to Omnisphere for pads and atmospheres.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Integra-7 | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

If you mainly want to use it for pads / atmospheres, how about Nexus or any of the Tone 2 synths? Icarus or Gladiator? There’s lots out there. Even the free U-He ones provide options. Good luck.
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

Falcon, supposedly.TEAMB2014 wrote: Sun Oct 30, 2022 9:59 pm No. I use studio one. But I have things that I want to trade/sell here when I get the chance.
Maybe I can sell enough stuff and save the $500 for it
Omnisphere wasn’t the best use of my money - I’d have been better off putting it toward hardware.

In my overspending on plugins the past couple of years, Omnisphere has always been a faint blip on my radar, but I never got it. It seems amazing, but I don't think there is any cure-all out there for your pad and atmosphere woes. This is the category of sound that I find needs the most post-MIDI manipulation to sound good. I'm talking about things like manipulating attacks and releases, applying effects, splicing the bounces to get them just right.
Of course, that depends on the kind of music you're making!

Maybe check out the sample-based products like - https://www.luftrum.com/lunaris/, or Output stuff. As for synths - NI Absynth maybe, Arturia Pigments, Padshop... Or go the effects way - something granular plus a big reverb (like Arturia Fragments, or Output Portal (haven't used this one myself)...)
EDIT: and for darker stuff - Eventide Generate and maybe Tracktion synths...

Pads and atmospheres?
Korg Wavestate. Fraction of the price and is probably the ultimate for pads, atmospheres and cinematic type massiveness. Not what I'd call easy to program, but you're going to find it difficult to match the complexity of evolving atmospheres with anything else.

I'll reiterate that the Rob Papen plugins are also in that realm.kritikon wrote: Sun Nov 20, 2022 12:30 pm Pads and atmospheres?

While you are trying out various plug-ins to see what sounds good to your ears, I suggest that you at least give Vital a try: https://vital.audio It's available for free as well as paid-for options so you can support the developer. It's an excellent wavetable synthesizer that is top-notch for atmospheres and evolving soundscapes.
It's visually stunning with animated controls that help you keep track of what is being modulated. I also think the on-board effects are pretty powerful and they can warm up some of the digital harshness that is commonly found in wavetable synths.
Spektralisk released a couple of patch libraries for Vital, including Mare which is all about atmospheres and soundscapes. Results can be airy and fragile or full-bodied and epic. Here is a video demo of presets included in Mare. It shows the wide variety and power that Vital has under the hood.

That describes just about every synth on the planet. And there are many good inexpensive and even free ones which could fill the bill. I'd check some of those before even considering the most expensive soft synth around.TEAMB2014 wrote: Sun Oct 30, 2022 9:27 pm I mainly need pads and atmospheres is what I wanted omnisphere for

I like Omnisphere in combination with Trilian. With Trilian you dont need to search for bass sounds anymore. Its also possible to load up multiple instances. I also use Analog Lab V but sometimes the CPU load is extremely heavy, so I go with Omnisphere most of the times.

Hmmm I think if you just want a synthesizer you can probably find something else like Xpand2. Pretty cheap and comes with some interesting sounds. Omnisphere can be pretty overwhelming.
