But what if someone worked on a track all month and didn't have time to submit it in just a few minutes? According to statistics, at least half of the best tracks appear in the last hours. While in the CA round, many newcomers from them posted tracks in the first two weeks. As hard as it is, I think we have to stay fair for everyone. If I saw such a rule I would think that it would be better for me not to start my track.
I think extended voting, until the 20th-22nd, for example, is a great idea in such a situation. This doesn't happen every month)

Dudes...we're not seriously going to discuss this,
are we ?

I suppose there would be an amount of entries where it would become impractical though. What if 500 people entered? I don't think there should ever be a cap though. I think the best idea would be to randomly assign people to 10 sub-groups for the commenting and voting. And then some sort of play-off if necessary.

But you're right Elex - we don't need to think about this unless it actually happens (unlikely).

If it’s too much effort to vote - and I do sympathise when it’s 50+ entries, and I have taken breaks from OSC because it can take a long time - then the solution is not to vote and accept disqualification.

Interesting proposal :D
Anyone knows if this plugin is multipart? it has 16 outputs but i don't find the way to assign them.

Or just put a 2min limit on entries? As much as I do love a sprawling orchestral adventure... :violin:

Also there is the strong possibility of people with orchestral tracks, done with the myriad of other orchestral instruments out there, subbing parts for this plugin and submitting in the first week.

We'll see what comes I guess. OSC imo has always been run with a sense of fairness and common sense.

Looking forward to it.

I always wondered why Spitfire never put up a challenge themself, maybe this is a test run for them…
I look forward to the 50 50 min symphonies getting in…; - )

Oh this is interesting! Does the discover version also supports MPE?

Post

Are you kidding??? :o :hyper:   ....what a wonderful idea to have Discover up! THANK YOU! Amazing! I haven't dared to suggest this. SWEEEEEEEET!

Ahm, yeah, if word gets around, this could become a little overwhelming. But if anyone was to add any other orchestral library it would be instant DQ, which would quickly thin out the crowd! :D

I think it's a fantastic idea and I'm excited to hear what our synth-crowd will do with this! :hyper:

Are we allowed to mangle the sound sources this time or do we have to run strictly with a classical orchestral setup?

Post

You can happily use/automate Global Tune to mangle things. I'll add the tip to set "RELEASE" on 0 to cut off some of the reverb tails where possible (strings for sure!). But you still probably must not use any modulation FX for pitch, I imagine. Certainly this puts more focus on musical composition than ever, but there's a whole lot of wicked stuff you can do with Discover and its parameters.

Now it’s another internet only
Oh well, it’s not meant to be I guess :D
Can it be downloaded to an online computer then moved to an offline one?

According to the manual "Internet is required in order to authorise and install our libraries. Once installed, you do not need to be connected to the internet to use our plugins in your DAW"

Now, let's start with the kick and the sub... hey!!

Seriously, though, it's a welcome opportunity to try this free orchestra from Spitfire. It's a nice challenge to try and create a decent spacious mix with the one microphone!
