looking for multisamples of the 4 basic synth shapes

I'm looking for multisamples in any format
for the 4 basic shapes:
sine
saw
square
triangle
I'd like to play the unedited basic waveforms in a sample player on the computer.
Any suggestions?

What you are looking for is a single cycle waveforms collection. Try these from Adventure Kid:
https://www.adventurekid.se/akrt/waveforms/
These collections have everything you want plus much, much more.
Edit: It occurs to me that you are wanting "multisamples" of the basic synth shapes. What I mentioned above will work, but "multisamples" will probably serve you better after all.

Have you tried rolling your own with a proper audio editor (which should have a tone generator)

What does "multisamples" mean in this context? A wav file for each note?
Also, for "sample player" does it mean something like Sforzando (MIDI-controlled sampled instrument player), or something like FruityLoops (which plays specific sample files or loops at the desired times)?

My suspicion is that he's going to use a sampler like a synth. (Very easy to do with TAL-Sampler, for example). He'll probably start out with high quality multisamples of each shape played at each semitone, and then use subtractive synthesis on the multisample oscillators.
At least that's something that I've considered doing before, so it makes sense to me.

That's right. I'm looking for the wav samples for all the, say, 88 keys so that I could drop them onto a sample player like Tal or Sforzando, etc. Alternatively, the 4 multisample files themselves would even be better, i. e. the 4 files that each already contain all their 88 wav files.
I think that this must have been done before for the basic waveforms but I just couldn't find anything thelike online.
Otherwise I'd have to go through the whole process myself which may be unnecessarily time consuming if the files already exist.

Sforzando has this built-in. So do most sfz players. No waveforms needed. It's a one-line sfz file:
Here's the list of waveform names:
sample=*sine
sample=*saw
sample=*square
sample=*triangle
sample=*tri
sample=*noise
sample=*silence
Code: Select all
<region>sample=*sawsample=*sine
sample=*saw
sample=*square
sample=*triangle
sample=*tri
sample=*noise
sample=*silence

I'm sorry but I can't find them. When I downloaded Sforzando in the first place there were no presets built in. I had to download preset folders separately. But none contained the files I am now looking for.
And when I research for .sfz files, e. g., I only find plenty of instrument files.
Could you please give me the links where I could download exactly those multisample files for sforzando or Tal?
I can find all kinds of instrument files but no basic waveform files.
I'd need the concrete links.

It shouldn't be too difficult to take any quality synthesizer and create a project in your DAW that plays each note of the keyboard for approximately 8 seconds. Then render that file to audio and chop up each sample. Give each sample the name of the key and the waveform type. Then, use Loop Auditioneer (or any looping tool, really), and loop each multi-sample. If you really wanted to, you could make much more than the basic waveform shapes. Tal-Sampler should be able to easily make use of these.

I know but there's a chance that the files already exist.
We both just don't seem to know where exactly to get them but maybe someone who does a lot of sampling will know and provide a link.
Maybe the user JeffLearman can prove it and give us a link to the files?

I think if you specify "sample=*triangle" then the sampler does all the heavy lifting: generate one of 2048 long and: resample!
@OP: before I or anyone else goes writing walls of detailed text, I think we need to know your motivation and level of understanding of (re)sampling etc. What do you hope to find out with this experiment?

Hi, have a look at the Google Drive link that should be in my signature, some of the packs contain multisamples of the raw waveforms from some analog synths (you won't find any sine waveform, though! and the samples are not "mathematically perfect" waveforms, as analog synths have their own character and sometimes the tuning is close enough but not perfect). They won't cover 88 keys, but they span a few octave, with a sample for each note.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... fyMq0y3ZGA
The closest thing to what you ask avaible on my public folder is probably the "Analog MultiSamples pack 3.zip" pack....
This is the thread where I shared most of the multisamples (and you can find some details); look for my other threads in the "samplers, sampling and sampling libraries" section of kvr to find details on the other packs.

All those samples have a few years, so almost all of them were recorded mostly with my old Roland UA1610 Studio Capture (this was before I replaced it with a RME interface, which sounds way better and has less noise)...

I think you may have misunderstood. SFZ players, like Sforzando and Sfizz, define their instruments using text files, and to assign a sample to a region you typically will type something like:juno987654321 wrote: Sat Nov 05, 2022 12:46 am I'm sorry but I can't find them. I'd need the concrete links.
sample=hihat1.wav
But instead of a sample you can also use the internal oscillator. This is useful for testing purposes, but also for augmenting sampled instruments, or for pure synthesis. So instead of assigning a sample, you might use:
sample=*saw
However, I suspect that these built-in waveforms are not samples, but generated algorithmically inside the software. So there's no samples to grab and use elsewhere.
This is all fine if you intend to use the waveforms within a SFZ context, but not useful for you otherwise.
If all you want is a "perfect" saw, sine, etc, you don't really need an every-key multisample. Just one fairly low note single cycle should do the job. This assumes that aliasing on higher notes doesn't become an issue.
Analog synthesizers produce their basic waveforms with a lot of character and imperfections, and the waveforms vary as you move up and down the keyboard, so to reproduce those multisamples (but maybe not every note) are needed.

Create a saw.txt file. Put this line of text in the file:
<region>sample=*saw
Rename saw.txt as saw.sfz. Load the Sforzando plugin into your host program. Using the Sforzando plugin's GUI, in the "Instrument" box, click and navigate to your saw.sfz file and load it.

Once you have that working, notice the "OPEN IN TEXT EDITOR" button (on the "INFO" tab in Sforzando.) Using this text editor, you can change "*saw" to any of the other waveforms. You can even use multiple lines with different waveforms and they'll be added together.
Once you have that working, the next fun step is to start playing with envelopes. Frankly, though, a player with a GUI like Tal would be better for that, so you'd be back to finding waveform files.
Of course, with Sforzando, you can simply record the output and chop it up using a wave editor like Audacity (free). Better yet, just use one of the files already pointed to above. But IMHO it's worthwhile to try Sforzando first because it's so easy.
