Wow, lots of stuff to check out! Thanks, folks. :)

I run on W2K, by the way. Will be switching to XP in the next year.

:hihi:

BTW, there's one choice: :hail: EnergyXT. Absolutely!
To say it's great is not enough.
..just to add another: Console..
Which is a modular VST host, and does DX/DXi as well, also offers itself as a VST/VSTi/DX/DXi to your main DAW...
 interesting...

I'm partial to Forte, but using EnergyXT inside it as needed is the best bet for me. I like how Forte can switch instrument setups (scenes) with just the space bar (it's possible EXT has this type of functionality, but as I only use EXT as a VSTI I'm not sure).

Energy XT would suit all your needs and it's only 49$.

Using it's modular nature you could easily create different sets of synths / keyboard splits for each song and load them with program changes. You wouldn't even need to have your notebook open.

Beside the ultra flexible modularity you get a full blown audio/midi sequencer.

Well, they are Japanese.. The fact they there is an English section at all is helpful.. I don't mind the odd bit of bad grammar (quite endearing at times), after all I made loads of eros everyday and I'm a naive speaker...
