No talk at all about this here yet. I have absolutely no need for another compressor, and I'd really rather not spend money on such a tool right now when there suddenly seems to be quite a few new, more creative things on which I'd like to spend what little spare money I have at the moment. But this thing has some serious mojo, and its intro offer until 10th of November is pretty tempting...

I admit I'm a bit confused about three 1176 models without attack/release controls...

From what I can gather, it's been modelled on the settings he always uses, and set up that way for ease of use, the idea being that you use just the input to gauge how hard you want to hit it, in combination with the saturation and EQ controls. I actually found that it works quite well that way for me. I already have several other 1176 plugins, but I'm really liking the colour this brings. And anyway, I think the 3A is my favourite mode, even though I've alternatives for that as well. Like I said, I'm on the fence about buying it, but whilst demoing, whenever I put it on something, and especially drums and vocals, I don't want to take it off.

But yes I agree that it is a bit of an odd choice not to have a few further controls. I've got to decide whether the sound makes up for that.

Hello! Thanks for posting about the VU Compressor. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask and or email me directly at panda@purafied.com (mailto:panda@purafied.com)
For those that are concerned about the lack of attack / release / ratio controls, I would encourage you to download the trial and try the plug-in.
The design and workflow of this plug-in was created to maximize efficiency and allow you to focus on making music. For those who are inexperienced and apprehensive about those controls, this interface gives them the ability to make fast and intuitive changes that allow them to feel confident about their music. And for those who are experienced and therefore apprehensive about trying this plug-in due to the lack of those controls I encourage you to think differently and trust the workflow I've created here for you. Also you don't see anyone complaining about the lack of these controls on a LA3A... In fact thats what makes it some of the most famous mixing engineers favorite compressor of all time.
Friends of mine who are some of the most technically proficient engineers I know are blown away at the quality of the features in this plug-in and the efficiency of it's workflow. No plug-in exists with 4 different compression types, pre and post shelving options, and saturation / mix control all in one interface. Simply put, we removed the features you don't need to care about and gave you control of the features these styles of compression always wished they had.
This plug-in will become your best friend if you allow yourself to try it. We worked extremely hard on it and are simply overwhelmed with the positive response it's received. Cheers and thanks for the support!

Thanks for chiming in Sam. I think I'm gonna get it before the intro price ends on Thursday. Although I said I thought the lack of attack/release/ratio controls was a bit of an odd choice, I do actually get where you're coming from, as it does make it super quick to dial in and get great results.

I do wish that all developers allowed license transfers. I wouldn't have paid full price for it, but at the intro price, no license transfers didn't put me off personally.
