I bet Urs is either laughing his head off or pulling his hair out at this thread (I hope it's the former).

The upgrade - plan is good. I am sure everything will work out just fine!

That's the question who the "thicko" is. The one who ask, or the one who laugh....JockMcRonan wrote: Sun Nov 06, 2022 10:33 pm I am literally flabbergasted to see the level of confusion surrounding the legacy release...seriously...it couldn't be explained more clearly...I honestly never realised how many absolute thickos there are in the synth community.

It’s like a bad Abbott and Costello routine.JockMcRonan wrote: Sun Nov 06, 2022 10:33 pm I am literally flabbergasted to see the level of confusion surrounding the legacy release...seriously...it couldn't be explained more clearly...I honestly never realised how many absolute thickos there are in the synth community.

€30 for Z2->Z3 is very generous, so I think I'll just be paying that. Looking forward to it

OMG! This is such a great offer. I already own licences for both Zebra2 and The Dark Zebra, so that means I will receive a Zebra 3 licence for free!
And in return for such awesome generosity and great customer service, I shall pay back u-he by purchasing licences for Bazille and ACE, the only remaining u-he synths I don't yet own.
It's always good to reward the good developers, who themselves reward their loyal customers!

Oh! I just realised something...
Unless I am completely misreading this whole thing. This "Zebra Legacy" (which may then receive future maintenance updates) in addition to being packaged with ALL the existing Zebra 2 presets...
Doesn't this feel almost like a rubber stamp confirmation, that any upcoming "Zebra 3" will NOT be backwards-compatible with Zebra 2 presets, unless I'm sorely mistaken?
Oh well, that would have been a nice bonus, were that were possible (ala DUNE 3 and DUNE 2 presets, and Fabfilter's model, etc.) Perhaps, Zebra 3 is just too different from its predecessor to accommodate that?
However, if it has to be this way (and I'm still theorising here), But, I doubt there could have been a more 'classier' way to wrap up the whole Zebra 2 era, than by this proposed solution.

I believe it has already been stated in advance that Zebra 3 will be an entirely new synth, so existing presets will not be compatible.MrJubbly wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 4:47 pm

Well not really ALL existing Zebra 2 presets... only the soundsets released by U-He.MrJubbly wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 4:47 pm in addition to being packaged with ALL the existing Zebra 2 presets...
There are lots of amazing third party soundsets for Zebra by The Unfinished, Sonic Underworld, etc.

Given the amount of labor involved in maintaining Zebra 2, while simultaneously developing Zebra 3, I'm totally blown-away by the offer of a free upgrade. That's so very generous considering the global state of economic uncertainty that we're all dealing with right now.
Urs and team have blazed a trail for other developers to follow, in terms of software R&D and first-rate customer service. I've been burned by software companies in the past, so it feels nice to be appreciated by those that I have supported. Thank you! I'm looking forward to Zebra 3's release!!

This latest news does have me wondering if we'll see some epic sales on those "amazing third party soundsets". Some have been outpriced beyond my considerations far too long. And the sales they do have on them as of now have never really made them any more desirable as well. Even though the audio demos sound quite nice.pierb wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 7:46 pmWell not really ALL existing Zebra 2 presets... only the soundsets released by U-He.MrJubbly wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 4:47 pm in addition to being packaged with ALL the existing Zebra 2 presets...

Yes, Zebra 3 will not be preset compatible. It will be a new synth that carries on the Zebra name and basic semi-modular structure.MrJubbly wrote: Mon Nov 07, 2022 4:47 pm

Zebra 3 will be brand new and free of the past which is a freedom to really change stuff! It's gonna be exciting to see when the first public beta comes out (hopefully sometime next year)
