Did you do A/B tests between PolyMAX and your 'list of synths' before coming to this conclusion and posting it here? No, of course you didn't. Have you even heard PolyMax outside online demo clips or a YT video? Probably not, I'm guessing. But all the same, you're 'sure' they sound 'at least just as good' anyway, because this is the internet / KVR, where people just conclude & assert anything, anytime, because it's what they decided to believe, actual experience be damnedSinisterbr wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 1:05 pm Frankly, one could make a list of synths at least as good as Polymax, and WAY cheaper.
Btw, XILS PolyKB III costs 60$ right now. Absolutely amazing deal.

Are you sure? Then why did you respond to this?

Yep I can conclude and second what mholloway is saying. I’m comparing PolyMax to a few analogue polys and none of the above mentioned vsts sound like a hardware analogue *when you push their limits*. I think PolyMax is exceptional. I’m not an UAD plugin fanboy usually but credit goes where it’s due.mholloway wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 4:07 pmDid you do A/B tests between PolyMAX and your 'list of synths' before coming to this conclusion and posting it here? I'm not going to knock Repro 5, which is a very good synth.
This is a totally different sounding synth though. More my kind of sound, this seems rolandy/moogy, and at least as good quality.
You really don't want to say it sounds good, do you?

The anti-UAD crowd have already decided any UAD product is inferior to the stuff they use...including UAD products they've never heard, and ones not released yet, etc. The conversation with them is pointless. They don't want to talk about the synth / effect in question, they only share dismissive opinion about UAD, over and over. Honestly, they should just stay out of UAD threads, as they contribute nothing whatsoever to the actual conversation about the individual plugins.

Well, I'd LOVE to talk about this synth but unfortunately, I'm not willing to buy a UAD Apollo dongle (or whatever hardware) or go the sub route.
If they ever change their policy I'd most certainly buy it as I like the demos.

And most of the stuff they have mentioned is no better than their DAWs built in vst (except Repro). Or they never touched a real analogue poly. It seems some people just try to convince themselves that if something is cheap or is on sale, it’s better value. 200 doughnuts is nothing considering how this uad synth sounds.

You know you are technically making yourself look childish by still calling it a dongle?Robmobius wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 5:14 pmWell, I'd LOVE to talk about this synth but unfortunately, I'm not willing to buy a UAD Apollo dongle (or whatever hardware) or go the sub route.

Because it is a dongle, no matter how much you want to bend the truth.

You know what. You are right. I sincerely apologise. Sorry that I bend the truth, I should not have done it.rasmusklump wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 5:32 pm Because it is a dongle, no matter how much you want to bend the truth.
UAD audio interfaces and converters are dongles. You win.

How deliciously ironic. That's very childish indeed. You utter putz...

These are dongles, because there is no technical reason to run the code on those outdated DSPs. Every normal CPU and GPU could do the same, but faster and less disadvantages. Hence they switched to a pure software business model and stillare delivering the their usual quality.
Regarding this synth, the presets are well made for sure.
