I've got a question for you, if you don't mind. I downloaded the demo and tried to make a video that I could use to convince the company I'm contracting for to buy it for a project, but I was unable to make a video file that anything could play. Is this a limitation of the demo? It seemed like it was just going to be rendered with a big watermark, which would be fine.

so sounds like it's demo related.

Yeah, I didn’t quite know about this aspect of the project. It’s OK. If I get it looking good, my work will buy it.vurt wrote: Tue Nov 08, 2022 3:59 pm also shame you didn't look at halloween was on 66% off

although, i personally tend to use obs to record as then i can mix in some live camera too.
and ive never used midi aside from a quick test, i use the audio in spectra setting, so things are frequency controlled.

I think the error might be on my side. I made the song on my personal computer, but my version of Premiere is old, so I put it on a thumb drive and brought it over to my work computer, where I am subscribed to Creative Cloud with the latest. The file must have gotten corrupted, as it does seem to play on the computer it was made on. Weird. I do this all the time.vurt wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 1:47 pmwell like i say, the record function dues work as expected herezerocrossing wrote: Wed Nov 09, 2022 3:56 amYeah, I didn’t quite know about this aspect of the project. I'll probably do a combo of MIDI and frequency on instruments like my guitar parts. It reminds me a bit of an old app I used to perform with called Arkaos, but without a way to use your own video. That would be a good addition. Since it isn't a live performance, I can just edit that in myself.
One thing that surprised me a bit is that there doesn't seem to be a large amount of "materials." There's a pretty cheap add-on, but no demo of them. Do you have them? Are they good?

i don't have the add on myself, but another member here bought it and says it's pretty good. im sure there was a video of them too.
i will probably grab it, just haven't felt the need yet, as you can do a fair bit with what's there when you start mixing things up and using the different settings for normal/overlay/subtract etc...
and in the video thread, here in everything else, there's a bit of a discussion on making your own materials too. which again, ive not field any rush to investigate yet, but pekbro seems to know what he's doing and says it's not too difficult
and as for arkaos! damn that was awesome! only used it at college, but was great. would love something like that nowadays!!

VS is cool, but their GLSL implementation is somewhat annoying. It's more work to port existing shaders into VS than I am interested in currently. There are no image handlers and use of your own media is somewhat limited, requiring some actual programming to bring about, something that makes my head hurt as I don't do it often. Sooner or later tho.
*I am kinda considering re-upping my aftereffects sub, much more than I am interested in farting around with VS lately. Especially since Resolve performs so poorly on my old PC...

you should get in touch with them, from some videos ive watched, they seem receptive to feedback and do seem to try to make things more accessible. might be worth a try as you know how to "fix" it, not much point me trying
resolve is great for editing and adding more fx of course, but no use for me for live stuff, that's where vs shines for me, i just plug it in, and it adds a bit of pzazz to an otherwise boring shot of a hippy tweaking knobs
