Okay, sorry to have seemingly upset or irked some of you. To clarify, I was indeed referring to all the Zebra 2 presets/soundsets released by u-he (obviously not all the independent 3rd parties' sound designer's presets).

And while I had suspected that Zebra 3 may not be backwards-compatible with its predecessor's presets for quite some time, I had never actually read an official confirmation thereof.

A simple misunderstanding perhaps, being uninformed (which is no sin). No need to call that 'silly' (@mabian), "in my humble opinion". But thank you to the other members (not 'mabian', obviously) for clarifying the situation regarding my comment to everyone else.

And like I said, I fully recognise this is a great deal all round and very 'classy' of u-he. Both for us existing Z2 owners and for any new Z Legacy customers.

Looking forward to Zebra 3. Will be great to get things like D&D modulation, wavetables, etc. samples? Granular? Through it all in!

I don't understand why there are no loyalty upgrade options from Zebra Legacy Edition to Zebra 3. That's just going to cause a lot of anger. Surely the upgrade should be the price difference from Zebra 2 plus standard upgrade price, so €99 + €30 = €129.

the people buying legacy aren't "loyal" long term customers, but they are getting all the sound sets inc hz/dark zebra that's their big discount.

The current policy will only rile up new customers. The lack of any sort of upgrade path is a big huge mistake. Wait and see it will be a storm when the noobies discover their Legacy editions cannot be upgraded to Zebra 3. New customers want to be treated just the same as long term customers. They do not want to be treated any differently because they are new.

zebra2 has been out for fckn ever. if they haven't discovered it they're either quite young and just getting started or don't go on the internet for forums and stuff in which case they should read the fine print which is really clear on u-he.com and then they'll be fine and realize that Z2 and Z3 are different products.

Perhaps there should be a discount going the other way? like if you buy Z3 you get a deal on Z2 and all the soundsets. but really.. whatever. we'll see what happens. it'll be fine.

there's no 'hill to die on' here.

i was a wizard (obviously) and got bit by a bloody chicken, turning me in to a werechicken once a bloody month.
like a werewolf, but more pecking the floor than ripping people to pieces. useless in battle tbh.

You are ignoring the $3-400 worth of soundsets and Dark Zebra.

If they give an upgrade path like you are suggesting, then new users get the same as current Zebra owners but they also get all the additional stuff free that the current owners don't get.

Hell, some existing Zebra users might buy Zebra Legacy just to get Dark Zebra and all the soundsets and a very cheap price!

they dont need to.
its free for all owners of zebra, in various levels, see opening post.

There's no upgrade path because Zebra Legacy will be ridiculously discounted and it would be unfair for customers who've paid all of it full price. Zebra 2 + ZebraHZ + U-He presets is worth like $500, probably more.

If someone wants to get into Zebra 3 for free or with an upgrade path they've had 10 years to do it already.

The $99 price tag is really there to support the maintenance of Zebra 2 + ZebraHZ. Stuff like critical bugs or Apple pulling another architecture change.
