another random thought...
why are you doing this? im assuming it's not dreams of becoming the next big thing, i say this as you have applied yourself to school and university. so again an assumption, you have a non musical career in mind?
so music is just a hobby?

this is fine, not a criticism, i myself consider myself a hobbyist.
but of course we still have goals, to write better stuff than we did, to improve. this is natural, but what we hobbyists have is time, there's no great rush to be the best we can be.
we can enjoy the ride as much as the destination without having to make our fingers bleed practicing.

like i said just a random thought, may not even apply to you, but someone else might read it and find it useful :)

Idk, IMO this might turn into a “Too many chefs in the kitchen” type thing, which might just cause more confusion and frustration if/when the conflicting input starts coming in (“turn it up, no turn it down, make it brighter, no darker, perfect sample, no it’s the wrong sample”, etc.).

Based on OPs thread topics and replies I think a 1x1 session is a good next step. If not with Aiyan “Patch Master” Zahev (which you’d be a fool not to take up, just sayin, and also I’m just hamming it up cause I’m a fan of his preset banks lol), theres other options like Fiverr or music schools like Pyramind that offer 1x1 sessions from some well known producers.

Heck you might find someone who’s been producing since the 90s and get the info from the source.

I will throw out that I’ve kinda read some resistance or dismissiveness in some of OPs replies, but I sense this is out of frustration and not arrogance, which is a little more forgivable. So if you do book a 1x1, maybe step back from everything and make sure, like I said before, that you’re willing to listen to and accept the input given, and not be too quick to reply with “I’ve done that 100 times, hasn’t helped.” or the like.

no, i agree, the livestream would be better. but maybe for whatever reason, that doesn't happen, i don't want him giving up!!!

i get what you mean though, but might counter that with, maybe it would also show the op, there are no right answers only decisions we make at any one time. :zen master: :hihi:

Alright, I'm not sure what the best way to approach this is in terms of sharing, but I've put together a remake:

Obviously not 100% identical, but I'm happy with how close it is in terms of composition/arrangement. I can tell there's discrepancies (the saw synth and main lead for example) but am not sure where to go from here.

First three minutes seemed somewhat boring to me. Can you tell what's missing compared to the original?
The part from 4:00 onwards is spot on, sounds pretty good actually!

That's the Original Mix, I was specifically recreating the Club Mix:

(though I'm happy to give the Original Mix a try, it's just a little more 'complex' in terms of the number of synths)
