I’m constantly trying to make Falcon my primary synth because I know that in the end I will find some really useful inspirational timbres. But, it never happens because pretty much all in Falcon takes more time than in other synths. I love it though, really. Forgive me stupid comparison, but for me Falcon is like a gorgeous woman who demands that you spend all of your time with her.
I almost used for it, but UI definitely slows me down even for simple tasks, so I put my voice on UI upgrade. It’s obviously not easy, but I want to believe…

It seems that Falcon version 2.8.2 increased the CPU load a lot in Reaper in my setup even when there NO program loaded in Falcon and no playing or midi input. It jumps from 0.1-.05% CPU to 12-15% when loaded. The programs themself contribute not that much (except for the the IRCAM granular which is chewing a lot...) . Unloading the Falcon track from the Reaper project does not decrease CPU usage. After a restart of Reaper CPU usage is back to normal. I tried various other soft synths, none of them display this behaviour. The previous versions of Falcon were moderate CPU users. The CPU is a 6 core 8700K in win10 system. Do more people see this? I already contacted UVI.

Ok agree.spnc wrote: Sat Nov 12, 2022 1:53 pm The fact that you have no problem when 98% of us have a problem with it speaks volume.
Also these 2 things can work hand in hand in terms of development, they're not antagonistic.
EDIT: about multicore - only if optional, please.

I already discussed in this thread once about this, where expressed concerns. In theory, this sounds tempting, but in reality there is probability it cause more problems (related to compatibility between systems / hardware) than benefits.
Can't name now specific plugins where already encountered a similar problem, but in the end in that cases i been stay with disabled multicore button. Otherwise - unpredictable CPU peaks, an imbalance in the loading of cores and, as a result, a crackling in sound with no visible load in the CPU-DAW meter (he will show zero usage, but when we open the Task Manager, we will see that we do not have many resources left).
I am not saying that these symptoms are mandatory, perhaps they will not be, or they will be partially and / or manifest differently. But it had place to be. And it's always better to have a choice. (I usually turn off this feature, whenever possible.)
In other words - I would prefer see the real load, and control it in other ways than suffer with random peaks.
I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion (not a programmer), multi-core is more useful for standalone applications. Whereas in the plugins ecosystem, it's sooner unpredictable mess (although for sure in test mode, i.e. in the form of a single loaded plugin instance, user will be delighted.)
Let's programmer will write if i'm wrong, i will not argue.

Your welcome. I'm very glad I managed to stumble upon that myself as it makes this rather excellent freebie much more fun to use.Fleer wrote: Sat Nov 12, 2022 2:23 pmHeck, I didn’t remember that although I read it somewhere once. I only did some useless resizing before, where the instrument itself stays identical. Thanks for this reminder!wltchris101 wrote: Sat Nov 12, 2022 1:00 pmI'm new to Falcon and also thought that the UI was tiny for Prime 8, and no matter how much I resized Falcon it made no difference. But I've just figured out, that if you click on the main Falcon spanner icon at the top of the header, and open Preferences, then you get a UI scaling and Script UI Scaling option for the Prime 8 interface itself which sorts this problem out.Boy Wonder wrote: Sat Nov 12, 2022 4:14 am You need a magnifying glass to read the interface, but still.

Ok no prob. (Just, i already heard once from one programmer that multithread it's actually painful topic for be good implemented. That somehow crossed with my suspicion.)

Quick question before I drop money on the upgrade, can you now select multiple notes to assign say the eraser to, or do you still only have the choice between all notes assigned (to what you select or random samples), or note by note assignment? It's way too much work in v1 to get say 1/2 the keyboard with the eraser, 1/4 with ebow, and 1/4 random.

Weirdest thing happened today, all my UVI iLok activations have been deactivated...
Anyone else have this?
Edit: My UVI effects were still activated. So it's Falcon and all the sound packs.
