after my recent discovery of ableton link IS already implemented in renoise, well hidden in the sync option, i got frustrated about that its not working, except the fact that it correctly shows the number links available via network.

anyone know what could possible be the showstopper or enabling option for renoise being or not being able to send or receive the play/stop signal?
i already used ableton link with ableton 11 and bitwig and it works flawless on a surface pro/pc combination over wlan/ethernet.

I might suggest you have a look at Renoise/Redux. It’s basically Renoise that works as a VST inside of Ableton, and it definitely works. It isn’t all that expensive either. Of course, Link is free, so I understand why you would want to try that route first. I think I paid $45 for Redux, but that was some time ago. I’ve never tried link, by the way. I understand that it’s great, but was always of the impression that it sync’s multiple sequencers (DAWs, tablet apps, etc) with the idea of jamming with friends. I just haven’t jammed with anyone in forever.

i already own renoise and redux since years. i just can´t get it running with ableton or bitwig. it got the correct value of links running. even gets the correct bpm transferred or received. it just doesnt START or triggers bitwig or ableton to start. while both other programns work flawless with ableton link on.

Start/ stop function isn't implemented yet. There's a thread on the Renoise forum about it. I hope this changes in a future update. A number of people, myself included, have requested it.

I've gotten full transport sync to work betwee ableton and renoise by using rewire. If you're on Ableton 11, you can switch on rewire by adding -EnableReWire to the options.txt file

that being said, I dropped the idea and kinda eventually switched to full on renoise with doing some of the more weirder sound design stuff in ableton/bitwig. running two hosts like that, especially since renoise gives you a different "timeline of events" just wasn't very fruitful in my case - having to keep track of two sessions per project, bouncing stems/demos etc
