That's a terrible pricing model. You'll be able to own Melodyne for half that during Black Friday.

$175 to update and it is not even ARA2, lol...

Antares you should also make the formant sound better, it is one of the worst sounding, and I'm comparing to Reason, SoundToys, iZotope, zPlane...

Including the subscription in hopes you'll get hooked is a nice marketing trick, but has no value to me, so if you thought the $50 increase for the update price is justified by the subscription trick, I'd have to say nope.

I'm giving you feedback to help you get your pricing model better aligned with customer expectation. I hope it helps. But, no money from me...

Pricing is insane. Big nope.

Anyone else get a creepy PM from Warped Effect about "iZotope T-Pain Effect"?

BTW, when I said you’ll be able to get Melodyne on BF for half this price, I was talking about the fully polyphonic Melodyne Editor.

You can get the Auto-Tune equivalent monophonic “vocal-tuning” version of Melodyne for $99, if not for free with your DAW.

Did they delete a bunch of posts in this thread after all the criticism?
Anyhow, seems Antares now made several of the sub only plugins available to purchase without a sub. A step in the right direction. Censorship is still a step in the wrong direction though, just keep that in mind whoever took that decision.

I don’t recall any other posts. I think there’s just not a lot of interest in Auto-Tune.

My bad. The long tread was at Gearspace, not here. Not sure if the perpetual license of the previously sub only plugins are time limited, but the are available now at a so called BF sale price.

Hello RikkShow,
Happy to help, we have been looking at and taking in a lot of user feedback on subscriptions and perpetual licenses and purposely made the decision to open up some of our popular plugins for Black Friday as a perpetual option. It already seems like users are very happy about this and is something we are looking into as options for future products and sales. As always, thank you for sharing your ideas here and we agree, censorship is no good and everyone should be allowed to share their opinions positive or negative. :)

Very good move. I'll be trying and probably buying too. Been a long time user of Antares plugins. And thanks for taking criticism in a good way and acting upon it.

Wow I just bought Autotune Artist like a year or two ago…is there any upgrade path even available for that version? What a bummer charging for OS updates.

Maybe I'm in the minority here (lots of Melodyne fans), but I REALLY, REALLY like the sound of Auto-Tune. It comes down to line-tuning. Blob-tuning a la Melodyne is quicker and is easier to make sound natural, but the granularity of Auto-Tune is a winner for me when I need to go deep. In my head, Auto-Tune and Melodyne are in a race. Melodyne needs proper line-tuning, and Auto-Tune needs to capture that "effortlessness" of Melodyne. May the best developer win lol.

For me, this update would just be for the ARA that they say is coming. But I'm fine doing the transfers for now. I'm in no rush. I like the new interface a lot though. Maybe this will fix the blank tooltip problem I've been having with Pro this whole time lol. No amount of reinstalling can fix that one, haha.

Definitely not alone. I find Antares algorithm for Autotune much more pleasing than its competitors and I feel I always can adjust and fine tune it exactly how I like. I use Melodyne as my “grid mode” and Antares Autotune Artist for real time pitch correction both subtle and for the “T-Pain” effect. I’m mainly frustrated because it’s a needed tool in my vocal chain and I got Artist like last year…

I preferred Waves Tune RT to Antares Autotune when I last tried them years ago. Even Crispytuner or bx_crispytuner was better. Not tried the new version of Autotune as I'm happy with current tools.
