I'm thrilled that Moog finally did the obvious, but the price will have me passing. The sweet spot for this would've been like $2-2.5k IMO. But hey, Minimoog's are back! More power to you if you can pick one up!

I visited their site yesterday, by the way, to get some pictures of the Minitaur. Wondered about the very dark product images, but, seems to be their style, also with the Model D.

For me, they are way too dark, but they gotta know.

I've got the Poly-D and it's a bit of a disappointment sound-wise. An actual Minimoog at less than 3k would've been tempting. But the $5k price tag is so high it just becomes kind of funny IMO. Not even going to knock them for it. They'll sell!

Moog probably could've priced this at $7K and they'd probably still sell the same number of units. I'm more a fan of modern analogs, but it's cool to see a new MiniMoog hit the streets.

Not sure what you mean? Is the MiniMoog reissue not still a Vintage Analogue? What makes it modern (other than its newly manufactured)?

I think what he just said is that he prefers modern analog, but that it's cool to see a new Minimoog anyway.

Yeah, it certainly looks awesome, but I have no interest in these vintage reissues. Happy for those who do, though!

I never liked Moogs much, and I like this even less. Not so sure there will be that many takers at that price. They've even outpriced their own synths...

You underestimate the gearslutz crowd. The six stages of synth releases are:

1. OMG must have it!

2. WTF, too expensive

3. OMG those demos other owners made sound amazing, but it’s backordered!

4. OMG I finally got one!

5. Meh, I’m underwhelmed and sold it

6. OMG, what have I done?! Ok, I bought another one.

The sweet spot for me would be $200 - $250. Any more than that and you're better off saving for an Uno Synth Pro.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you on this. If IK can make Uno Pro for well under a grand, there is no way this thing is priced reasonably.

They want to sell this grandpa monosynth for more than the OB-X8 or Prophet-10. I'd say they must be smoking some dirty crack, but the funny thing is there will be plenty of morons who will buy this.

I assume all american made and that cost that much more.
Company is less dependent on china and whatever low wage countries where they just about survive on that wage.
And they keep the knowhow in the company.

I read that Taiwan do about 92% of the most large scale integration chips in the world, what happend to us in the west if china decide to annect Taiwan all the way. We already seen chip shortage and what that do to production.

So there may be good reasons to purchase Moog's - as I understand all employe owned as well. Everytime we buy something we make a statement - we like what you do and support it.

Have not thought about Moog, but regarding guitars I have most american made, both electric and acoustics.
