Phase Plant

Well, thanks to a member here, I could buy Slice EQ for a good price. I have just few others to hunt in the KVR market. Although, KiloHearts offer now is not bad (minus the Slice EQ) with $137, but I think I can find it cheaper in the 2nd hand market. The good thing is that those tools are useable outside of PhasePlants, so that a great bonus!

PhasePlants became one of my to go synths now. It is really a great synth and worth the time and effort invested. I'm still far from mastering it, but I don't need to! I like how we start to make our sounds. It might be the perfect synth for most everything. Love it :)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Is the bundle a no brainer? Seems like Plant Plant is about a 1/3 of the cost itself… thanks

You can buy only PhasePlants for $99 and it comes with the Essential Pack which has 32 plugins! What remains are the Premium plugins that you can buy them as you need. So, IMO it is a no brainer deal!

For example, see the screenshot. PhasePlants comes with all the Essential Effects but none of the Premium and host ones, so I still miss the greyed ones. When I purchase all, it becomes the Ultimate Edition.

A much better deal than it used to be! The essential pack covers most Phase Plant plugin needs, plus each of the essential plugins can be used individually as plugins in other DAWs.

The premium plugins are not necessary unless you really want them. Any presets that you buy that use unpurchased plugins will still play them, but you just can't edit their settings except for bypass/enable (or delete).
Windows 10 and too many plugins

What I did last year was use the sub for a year to save up €100 - I already knew I couldn't use that for sale prices so I waited till BF and used my Sub voucher to buy what was not on sale and used the BF sale price to buy Phaseplant (as on sale it came to exactly what it would have been if I had used my voucher for that), then mopped up a few of the premiums over the next couple of months when additional sales came along or through KvR marketplace. I was also lucky that the FX went free just before I did all that :)

I have purchased the rest from KHz website. Although they are little more expensive than what I found in the 2nd hand market, but it saves me time and writing PMs!

I think PhasePlants with Massive X and Pigments 3 discounted are the best synths for your money. They are incredibly powerful. you don't need all of them of course, just one is really enough (for me at least).

Well, I believe if you can make most of your own patches with PhasePlant, you can have at least 90% covered. That's actually has two main benefits. First, you minimize the bugs to as minimum as possible, so you don't hunt gazillion plugins inserted! Second, it makes you kind of immune vs GAS! Both advantages make you concentrate on making sounds and music instead of going around in circles (I'm talking about myself here :hihi: )

Ok, thanks. So what I’m gathering is that the bundle is more of an unnecessary luxury and not worth 3 times the standard Phase Plant ?

Well, I can't say the Premium effects don't worth it! But it depends on how you value things in general.

Anyway, I started by purchasing PhasePlants with the free essential effects for $99 last year. They sent me last year a coupon with $20 I think (not sure) so I bought Convolver for $9. I stayed with that till this year, then I got Slice EQ for $25 from an offer by a member here, and then bought the rest today for $137. So, it wasn't cheap but wasn't very expensive overall. Still much cheaper than the official price when no discount there and a little bit cheaper than their offer now for the whole ultimate ($299) :)

So, if you have the money, go for the Ultimate, if not, then buy the standard for $99 and then see if you need the other plugins.

I have all 3 of those, and I think that Phase Plant and Pigments tick most of the boxes for me!

Honestly not meaning to start any flames here, but I would probably open Vital first before Massive X if I wanted something different. Massive X is a powerful sounding synth and lots of folks love it, but the workflow and UI just don't click with me for some reason... :D

I feel the same mostly! Massive X is not the first synth I insert! I start now with PhasePlants or Icarus2 and maybe then Pigments and OG Massive. I haven't yet did any presets for Massive X! It needs some getting used to, but it is not that bad really. I just hate the performers section! Other than that, well, I can have some noise but it is little bit messy. Massive X and Dune 3 are two not that keen in doing presets for, although they are top quality synths.

Anyway, I'm watching some tutorials about PhasePlants as there are several complex modulations that I would like to understand. There are so many choices and options in sound design. I haven't touch the effects or Multipass yet! However, I'm trying to translate what I know in OG Massive here. I'm impressed really!

My demo expired long ago.
Anyone know if you can put filters in parallel in the left panel, the one with the OSC etc? Or just in serial?

You can make groups and you can put in every group an ocsillator, filter, envelope ..etc. You also have the lanes so you can send to them. I think it is very flexible. Maybe not as a modular but something like Zebra maybe.

Thanks.
So if I understand correctly, the only way to have an OSC go to parallel filter configuration is to route it to 2 sends lanes. Unusual limitation for such a powerful synth.
In Zebra it’s possible but an extra lane gets used up (or maybe there is another way in zebra?).
Even Vital has that option.

You can insert the Aux and route the signal wherever you want (I'm just few days with the synth! But that what I understood). You can read further here:
https://kilohearts.com/docs/phase_plant#aux_routing

edit:
is this what are you looking for?
An osc routed to two filters in the generator's section:

I think that’s it! (1 sample delay…)
The should just have a spitter ala Reason.

Thank you for the feedback.

Edit: I see an “invert” option on the Aux.
that’s interesting.
