Hi, getting into audio editing, audio repair, sound design... a bit of everything really, as wavelab and RX are both on sale. what are your views on each of these softwares.
pros, cons.. do they compliment each other.. etc etc etc...
are there alternatives to the most recent versions, I do have Cubase 12, spectralayers 9 pro and acoustica 7 premium..
thanks for any ideas, hints etc.. not a pro but hobbyist and like to play with software...
thanks
Tony

The only problem with Wavelab, is that occasionally, you can get Sound Forge Pro (typically a version or 2 behind current) at the humble store for like $30. Sure, wavelab is probably better, but not that much better at nearly 10x that price even on sale.

I use Wavelab with Ozone as a plugin for all my mastering. I have RX and use it occasionally for spectral editing or noise reduction, but I usually use it in standalone mode for those purposes. I’m also mostly a serious hobbyist and definitely not a mastering engineer, so these tools are probably overkill for me. I bought into the full version of Wavelab a long time ago, so my upgrade paths are always for the full version, but the Elements version looks like it would be more than enough for me (with Ozone).
One other alternative to consider is Acon Digital Acoustica. I got the standard version for $36 last year on Black Friday (JRR shop) and it’s a very nice audio editor. Maybe we’ll see another sale this year.

Thanks for the input everyone, I'm a serious hobbyist too, overkill, probably but I like working with the software, wavelab is floating my boat at the moment, trialing both this an rx,

I never liked Wavelab and I am very happy now with Acon Digital Acoustica.

Just one thing to consider:
If you ever plan to create perfect loops for samples (like a sample pack or multisamples) there is just one answer:
No other Wave Editor has such a great loop tool like Wavelab!
It´s the only loop tool which can create really great equal power loops I ever found!

Another vote for WL here. I think you can pretty much cover anything the other two can with it. I don't really use them together, but there is some integration with Cubase too so there's some bonus points. Pro is on sale for 50% off right now, $250 is a lot better than $500. I waited it out and bought it for the same price during the last sale they had for new customers. It was cheaper than buying an upgrade from Elements at the time.

...but you'd be better without it. The development went downhill since it was sold to Magix.
My vote goes to WL + RX combo.

Sound Forge Pro is Windows-only now, correct? That would be a deal breaker if the OP is a Mac user (?).
