I’m looking for something that meets these:
- Less than $50
- Very basic (maybe only 4 or 5 controls)
- Can do basic room through hall ambient reverb
- Mac compatible

Check out https://valhalladsp.com/plugins/ for some excellent reverb plug-ins with top-notch algorithms. Their plug-ins are $50 each and macOS compatible.

If free ones does not suit you (DAW native reverb, Valhalla SuperMassive, Melda CharmVerb, etc), I would recommend Valhalla as previous users did.

Waves Renaissance Reverb or
H-Verb with maybe too many tweaking options for you?, but has lots of good presets
Soundtoys Plate is super easy

What DAW are you using? Stock plugins sometimes do the trick.

Logic. I’m looking for something with a simpler interface than the native plugins.

FabFilter Pro-R is by far the easiest and fewest controls reverb in my experience that covers a lot of ground, but it's not 50$.

Voxengo Sobor mentioned is also really good and lush, but imo is better on the "larger" part of the spectrum rather than shorter / roomier type.
